UPDATED STATS

Wings have a lot of solid prospects that are developing nicely, but one prospect nobody talks about is Nick Jensen (defenseman). Apparently he's flying under the radar since there are so many guys tearing it up. Jensen is a offensive defensman with outstanding mobility. He's strong defensively and likes to make open ice hits using his decent size (6-foot-1, 190-ibs).

He's a kid to keep an eye on. Read more on Nick Jensen.

Hmmm... I wonderz why you felt the need to update the stats. Is it because of a certain someone who's leading the prospects in points so far? ;)

EDIT: Forgots smiley.

Well, for someone in his late twenties playing in a league with old men or young kids, you'd hope he'd be racking them up. <_<

No so much: Anderson, Almqvist, Sheahan.

Not sure what you mean by impressive but all three of those guys are right where they should be as they're each not so much exceeding expectations but they are meeting them.

Last time I saw a Griffins game I noticed Andersson is the first PK forward they send out there. To me that's pretty impressive for what we expect out of him.

This year Almqvist knew he would have to deal with some kind of sophomore slump. He's not on fire anymore but he's in the SEL now and he's still logging significant top 3 or 4 minutes last I checked.

Sheahan had 17 points last year total and I'm not sure where he's paced to be at the end of the year but it can't be that significantly different.

So, maybe not great, but they'll each be fine imo.

In the long run I'm sure you're right.

Also, stats don't tell the whole story I suppose.

Also, stats don't tell the whole story I suppose.

Especially not for a guy like Andersson. At least, it's not really about stats for him this year. It'd be nice, don't get me wrong, but first of all, after seeing cases like Ryno and Axelsson, a part of me just hopes he doesn't get too homesick to the point where he leaves. Also, at the NHL level Andersson should be a very, very solid bottom six guy who can fill in every now and again in the top six. To come here in his first year and encounter a new style of game and new culture both on and off the rink and to earn his way to being the #1 PK forward for the Griffins to me is a fantastic accomplishment. Next year I think we can start dogpiling on him for not putting points up. I'll probably be among the first to do so, haha.

Last year Almqvist came in with no expectations and this year he's got a whole s*** ton. All I look for is that he keeps logging big minutes and doesn't rack up too many minuses. Again, they don't tell the whole story but it's nice to see that the coaches trust him with TOI and he doesn't seem to be in bad situations too often so far.

And it is understandable to wonder what's up with Sheahan since he is a first round pick. In regards to his progress I'm a little curious what's going on, not gonna lie. But again, he only had 17 points last year. If he matches that this year while getting more defensive responsibilities and whatnot then I'd consider that a decent enough year for him. He is only a sophomore so far and he's got the talent where he can explode at any day, especially if he were in a system that isn't as defense oriented as UND.

The wings prospects definitely have major potential. Someone that looks out of reach but would be perfect on the wings, Adam Larsson. 6' 3" 202lbs and just turned 18, 3 days ago. I have seen 2 on 1 plays against this kid; he can keep the puck away from the net.

He'll be taken first overall.

I feel that he has potential to be a top pick, but will not be ranked as such. My prediction is top 5, top 10 at worst. if the wings trade up picks, because let's be honest the are gonna do way to well to get a pick that good, then they will have more use for a potential all star defenseman in the years to come than a couple decent players in Grand Rapids who will most likely only see a few reps up in the bigs. With the great development program that the wings can offer, I see only positives with picking up a kid who I see shades of Lidstrom from.
