Agreed. Why did the NHL change that?

The most common explanation I've heard is so teams could create and wear third jerseys, which are usually dark. So fans can see their team wearing them at home.

And personally I like the dark at home. It was that way before it was ever white at home. But mostly I just prefer the red sweater to the white one.
