there is more distance between Detroit and second place in the west now than there is between second place and 13th place

Detroit will need that gap during December. It's gonna be a tough month, I doubt we'll be able to maintain such figures.

yeah took a look and it didn't look too bad but broke down the games by dates and that makes it look brutal

2 days off

Anaheim road

back to back game

Los Angeles road

one day off

San Jose home

one day off

Nashville home

one day off

Montreal home

back to back game

New Jersey road

one day off

Los Angeles home

one day off

St. Louis home

one day off

Chicago home

one day off

Dallas home

2 days off

Vancouver home

back to back game

St. Louis road

2 days off

Minnesota road

back to back game

Colorado road

one day off

Dallas road

one day off

NY Islanders home

16 games in December,4 of them are the day after the previous game and 9 are one day off between the previous game and them, the other 3 are two days off between the previous game and them

9 of the 16 are home games at least

a bunch of them look like they should be easy wins but yeah the pace should slip a bit

1.5 v. 1.2 = massive?

I think he looks at it as if we maintain that we will be in for a 120+ pt season other teams around 100+ points.

The way I look at it is we are still only 6pts away from being 13th... still to close to the rest of the pack. I'm sure that's how Babs looks at it as well.

Not to me. I know it was a different era but to me a massive lead was in 2002 when they clinched the Presidents Trophy with like a month and a half or something like that left to go in the regular season.

The lead is ok for now but like dragonball said; they're 6 or 7 points out of a playoff spot. Not much of a comfort zone to me. Overall, maybe that's good for the Wings at this point because we all hate to see them play too comfortable.

why shoot so low?

the wings are the best team in the nhl, period

This I know. But once the easy schedule the Wings have had catches up to them and they start playing a lot of their road games they haven't played yet, it's going to catch up to them. We've played the fewest amount of games on the road of any team. We are a great team, but it's no coincidence our record is so good and we have played well over the majority of our games at home. I'm not complaining, but it's reality.

And finishing top 3 isn't shooting low, it means we won the most competitive division in the NHL were it looks like at least 4 out of the 5 teams will make the playoffs.

LOL I remember that. Teams were getting pissed because we did not dress some of the older players/regulars down the stretch. They thought we did it on purpose to mess with the standings.

yea, i know what you mean about the schedule being somewhat favourable so far. if they were able to keep up this pace they would get 58/59 wins and 125 points. this isn't impossible but it is unlikely.

however, when the season ends, realistically speaking they should still end up in 1st place in the west (at least).

my reasoning for this is that if they are the best and deepest team in the league (which most of us think at this point to be true), they will find a way to get the most points. idk, maybe i am expecting too much from them, but from what i've seen so far, the wings are the best.

Agreed 100%. I think we are the best team in the league, but you just have to look at all the facts when looking at our current record. But then again, we've only played one game against the East, so we are guaranteed a couple freebie points from them :P

I have a feeling that when we're going to lose against New Jersey. We've never been good on back to back games, and we have to go from Detroit(vs Montreal) to New Jersey. Not a good sign for us at all.

And St. Louis will be tough after facing Vancouver in Detroit the night before.

And if any are Saturday night games and Sunday afternoon games, you can ALMOST consider that Sunday game a loss, because of travel.

Agreed! Never thought it'd be said, but we really need Ozzy back. Can't play Howard for all those games in a row. He'll be too tired come the post-season, and I don't like the look of a GR goaltender in net.

So osgood has been away almost a month with what originally was "just felt tight in the groin in practice, take a couple of days off and see how it goes" basically...can't be easy being 38.
