Our Captain scores a hat trick... he just can't be human can he?? :D

Also, I think Hudler needs to practice his shooting a ton more... he's been showing some solid skill and his effort is on the rise lately, but he just doesn't seem to have anything in his shot. He might be worth something by the end of the year, here's hoping

I'll give you Karen Newman, but Budd is part of the experience. When he dies, I hope they continue to play recordings of his announcements as long as the Joe stands. Same goes for the Hey Hey Hockeytown song.

Recordings might be a bit over the top, but the rest, sure.

Can we get back to arguing about Flip now? No bebuttal to my rebuttal?

Hats OFF TO THE CAPTAIN TONIGHT BOYS!

#5 is gonna be in the rafters for sure!

Maybe it's because I had an awful lot to drink tonight, but...every time I look at your avatar, I die laughing.

Feel sorry for Filppula, deserved a point or two, and would have if Franzen and Bertuzzi both didn't have hands of stone tonight. Flip played a very stong game, worked hard in the corners, gained a PP for the team (which we scored on), and he had some beautiful passes to his wingers, neither of which could score. Shame.

Jiri Hudler is still struggling but he's trying. He's working really hard but the offense dies the instant the puck touches his stick. He makes bad decisions and doesn't have confidence in his shot. The kid's gotta bury one and get this monkey off his back. If he can regain some confidence, he could go on a tear.

Jimmy Howard's looking just so-so right now. He's inconsistent; brilliant one night and mediocre the next. I'd like to see Babcock give more time to Osgood and get a healthy balance going between the two of them.

And I'm about done hearing about Quick's performance Monday night. The Red Wings had a lot to do with his inflated shot totals and perfect save percentage. He was good, but not 51 shots and 0 goals good. The Wings played an east-west game and the Kings took away the inside. Babcock said it Monday during the 1st period and he was right. He reiterated tonight before the game that the team needed to do more to prevent the goaltender from taking over the game, like get traffic in front of the net. They didn't do nearly enough of that Monday night, but they got their noses dirty tonight and it paid off.

I think too much blame is being put on Karen Newman and Budd Lynch for the horrible and repetitious music...

Seriously, what do you need to get a job as a DJ at the Joe? Never ever ever change your selection? I could do that.

I know what the numbers are. The marginal differences are irrelevant. Franzen's marginal difference are marginally higher because he plays with Datsyuk on the first PP. Just watch the game and you'll see that Franzen and Bert are under performing and while Filppula may not be playing to the best of his ability (And I mean that literally, I'm not implying he isn't playing well - he is), he is getting no help out there.

I also got no rebuttal to my rebuttal in the last GDT.

At least Budd has the excuse that he's 93 years old. I think we can cut him some slack. What's Paul Woods' excuse? He butchers names of both teams nightly. He called Kirk Maltby "Kurt" for the duration of his career in Detroit. During the pre-game tonight he messed up the pronunciations of a bunch of NHL veterans when reading the out-of-town matchups (i.e. Philadelphia's "Scott Hart-NELL"). And that's not even getting into his inability to say consecutive syllables without bridging them with an "uh."

Anyway, great win tonight. Pretty solid effort all around and a good bounce back game. The Wings can always count on undisciplined play by the St. Louis Blues and tonight it was decisive. And congrats to Nick Lidstrom!

I can't stand Paul Woods, his "uh" every other word make it nearly impossible to follow what he says. "And-uh Datsyuk had-uh a good-uh game-uh tonight. Uh, let's-uh hope they can repeat-uh tomorrow."

Fist off hats off to Nick! As I always say Nicklas for Norris. Great game though. I have to give it to Backes looked great for us tonight. haha, Dirty bastard, that hit was completely uncalled for.

Also what a beautiful attempt by Pavel between the legs, I was on my feet for that. I don't care what Mickey says, that was a legitimate opportunity for that shot. As far as I'm concerned that man can try whatever he like on the ice, playing like he does every game. You know he's practiced that for hours on end.

Sorry to bring back some bad memories, but here's Budd introducing the players before Game 1 of the 1995 Final.

Still shaking my head on how our all-star lineup lost to a team that had Shawn Chambers and Stephan Richer on it...

tears in my eyes from laughing... love the crowd boo'ing. LOL, LOL~

mishap? maybe because ever since he was drafted all we have seen is Crosby Crosby Crosby, do YOU even know what his first name is?
