According to a friend of mine who is a fan of the Leafs, the rumor is that they're throwing the waffles to insist that the players aren't "getting a good enough breakfast and lacking energy".

I had a much grosser theory, so I'll just stick to that rumored one.

I love the way the team are playing horribly, I think their captain is completely awful - skating behind his goal a few times he had the puck bobble away from and didn't look comfortable even with no one around - and a few fans (quite rightly) find a way to express their frustration, and all the commentary team can do is say "someone could have slipped on that".

Living in the south and not having center ice, the majority of the games (aside from watching the Wings on my computer) I watch are Thrashers games. This team is young and exciting and full of potential. I'd enjoy watching them more if their announcers didn't suck so hard. It's a shame for a team whose fans are more into their garbage basketball team and couldn't care less that they have a solid young hockey team.

idk about that, the norris voters seem to vote based on reputation and most players don't win it for a couple years.

The difference is Byfooglien will not win the Norris. Lidstrom has already been anointed as the 2011 Norris winner in the media anyway.

When was the last time a defenseman who doesn't kill penalties won the Norris?

Through 35 games Byfuglien has 4:23 of total SHTOI. That's not per game, that's under 5 minutes of TOTAL time spent killing penalties. Any consideration that Byfuglien gets for winning the Norris is utterly ridiculous and shows just how bastardized the trophy has become. If Buff wins it, they might as well change the definition of the award to the "highest scoring defenseman in the NHL".

I actually think they need to stamp the waffle with a maple leaf before they throw them or soak them in maple syrup then waffle them on the ice.

Leafs directed 91 shots towards Pavelec. He stopped 37, 3 went in, Atlanta blocked 33 and the Leafs missed the net 18 times.

Keep thinking positive MacK, but the Leafs are horrible, with no hope for the future.
