puffy 97 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Good move for Tampa! I don't care how old Rolo is, he is superior to DiPietro in every way. I'm happy for Dwayne. Lord knows nothing good would have happened if he remained an Islander. Edited January 2, 2011 by puffy

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Stevie must have saw how he stymied us. that's exactly what I thought. Rollie is probably pleased as punch, and he's a good guy (and still a good goalie, despite his age). He will fit in nicely with Stevie's style. Smith or Ellis on the move now? Smith was amazing in Dallas, he made Turco look stupid (a lot). I often wondered if Turco insisted they move Mike out, ego or something.
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 NYI need a goalie now, too. Only have injury prone Dipietro on their roster.

Legendary D In 03 50 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Kind of funny that Ken and Mick mentioned Tampa as a possible destination for Roloson only yesterday, and today it happens.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 I would have expected Smith going the other way, given contract size/length and the fact Ellis was signed this offseason, plus the fact that now Stevie will get pretty much nothing for whoever is dealt. I would dump Ellis for the best offer, because he and Smith have looked basically the same, but Smith is younger and has had better peak play.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Stevie continues to make good moves. Wisharts a good young defenceman, but Tampa needed a goalie and Rollies been playing out of his mind lately.
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 If the Islanders aren't tanking, I don't know what tanking is. Wisniewski, now Rollie; it's like anyone who does well is out.
Vladiator 116 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Kind of funny that Ken and Mick mentioned Tampa as a possible destination for Roloson only yesterday, and today it happens. dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Aren't the NYI under the cap floor now? Maybe not if the deal was OK'd though, hmmm? What is the scouting report on that prospect? Seems a lot to give up for an old goalie, even more so since it's the NYI.

CenterIce 83 Report post Posted January 2, 2011 Aren't the NYI under the cap floor now? Maybe not if the deal was OK'd though, hmmm? Islanders have about 5 million in unpaid bonuses that keep them over the cap floor. http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=
