I've tried many kinds of beers, I've been trying to find one I can tolerate and everyone always tells me "you've only tried the bad stuff, try this!" and it always tastes worse than the last.

I'll stick with mixed drinks, thank you very much. Beer is just too bitter and has a terrible aftertaste.

(Judging from Miller Lite, Guiness, Killians, Sam Adams Winter Lager, Heineken and various other kinds)

i agree, it is bitter w/ a strange after taste.

and as hank said, its definitely and acquired taste.

That said, killians is pretty damn smooth, compared to the s*** ive drank. less of a nasty gross beer taste, but still tastes like beer.

interesting. i love beer but hate killians.

:puke:

Murph cannot be questioned. Who cares if he loves dollar dogs and beer, who the f*** doesn't?

you raise an interesting and hilarious point..

Anybody who thinks they hate beer should try one in Canada. I only went to Windsor once, but holy hell did I toss em back fast. It was easy, because it was tasty. Walking down the street after I did that...not so easy.

Miller Lite is the only beer I really just can't stand. I mean I can drink a water no problem and just toss some hops, barley, starches whatever and make it taste better than that panther piss. But Killians.... I could freeze it in the winter and skate on it. Then melt it in the summer and drink it!

Right? That's like trying Boone's Farm then saying "Wine sucks!" (For the record, I like Boone's Farm too! :D)

esteef

Ain't nothin' wrong with Boone's Farm. Just ask any Michigan Tech grad...

as far as cider, ive only had woodchuck. i'll check out the places website in traverse city. A buddy told me that theres a company called Scrumpys that makes a good hard cider. The problem is, i dont know of a good store that would have something like that :(

And as far as a post about keats and murph that became about beer.... well.... we were talking about KEATS AND MURPH, im pretty sure at least one of them is drunk while on the air.

I usually can't stand Woodchuck. Its either too tart or too sweet. However, their limited release they had out around Thanksgiving is delicious. Its like an angel pissing on your tongue.

sad.gif Great Oden's raven I'm sorry!!!!! Whiskey just doesn't have the same nutritional value as beer.

Ha, I like what you did there, tying it in with his avatar! Ha . . .

Whatever, Keats rules, whether you like his schtick or not; Murph cannot be questioned. Who cares if he loves dollar dogs and beer, who the f*** doesn't? And Mick and Ken are untouchable. Jesus, have you ever even listened to another teams broadcasters?? The Red Wings crew is a bit off the beaten path, and I think they are great for it.

I personally like all the guys on the FSD team, but I'll admit there are days when Mickey Y, John Keating, and Murphy get on my nerves. But I don't dislike them 100% of the time. I've met John Keating, and he is a really nice guy and pretty funny to listen to in person. I do love Ken and Mickey though. The games are just not the same when those two are doing the broadcast together.

And in true LGW fashion, the thread is derailed on the topic of beer. I personally don't drink beer all that much because it's too bitter. That being said, strangely, I enjoy Guiness. And will occasionally also drink Mike's, Woodchuck, and some specialty brews.

Y'know, there is a whole lot of loose and strong talk about Murph being a drunk, and I for one am getting sick and tired of it. I ask of you: who of us doesn't like cold beer? Who of us doesn't like dollar hot dogs? And who of us doesn't like Arby's curly fries, especially after a hat trick? It takes a real man to stand up for what he believes in - a Murph Man. I am a Murph Man and I'm not ashamed to admit it. So c'mon LGW! If you are real men and women let your Murph flag fly! Who's with me?

*humming Glory Glory Hallelujah* :P

EDIT: nevermind, I didn't see the curly fries in the background.

Can't really contribute much to the beer discussion (I'm Mormon and proud of it) but I wanted to chime in and voice my agreement that whatever their flaws, our TV announcers are among the best in the business.

I've never really liked his style. Stop trying to make jokes and just relate the information you're paid to.

What? Oh! You're talking about John Keating. I forgot what we were talking about for a moment. Carry on.

FSD needs more Trevor Thompson on the Wings broadcasts. I saw him out in Royal Oak once and he was a super nice guy. My buddy also plays in the same adult hockey league as him and he said he's pretty a decent player. He's Canadian and a legit fan of the game.

I've actually "fired" Keating when I saw him at the Joe before...well...actually I just yelled "Hey Keating, you're fired" from my seats, he heard me and he just smiled back. Even though he is pretty brutal, I don't care much about who does the Wings broadcasting and I get a kick out of his awkwardness.

i........WOULD like to.......ORDER a CHEESEburgeR........AND fries

John Keating ordering at McDonalds..

I'm sorry but I do not enjoy Keating. The way he talks is like nails on a chalk board.

How could anyone dislike Murph? Sure he has some slips of the tongue but he has got a great sense of humor.

Bwaaaaaaahahaha! I read that "in voice" in my head.. I'm still laughing. Keating's gotta be a booze hound but really ... the entire FSD team blows and Daniels is the WORST of the worst.

I, too, consider Ken & Mick to be untouchable - the best, although I did really like Dave Strader when he was here. Trevor and Murph are good. Mickey York is tolerable - it's just that the dirty old man in me still wishes Angie Mentink was still around. Ryan Field is a joke! I'll bet that in high school, he was the little twirp who always got de-pantsed in the locker room, and snapped with wet towels. I have never, ever liked Keating, and I agree that the Wings players feel that he is a joke. But guys like Keating never have a clue about things like that. His interviews are lazy and just plain stupid. Just watch the next time the Wings win the Cup: the first guy to be interviewed by Keating will be asked something really intelligent like "How big a win was this?" In fact 99% of his questions begin with the word "how."

Murph looked sloshed last night, especially during the 2nd intermission report. He kept slurring words and forgetting what he wanted to say mid-sentence. I still love the guy though, cheers to you Murph! :beerbuddy:
