Commodore requests trade out of Columbus

A cautionary tale for guys who do one thing really well.

Commadore was a fan favorite in Carolina. Back when he played here it wasn't uncommon to see guys running around the RBC center in bathrobes and red wigs. He parlayed that rep into a very nice payday from the BJ's and now seems unhappy with his situation.

Didn't foote have problems with playing in CBJ as well?

Wouldn't surprise me. Columbus is just another one of those markets that players aren't interested in playing in. Probably some management/coaching problems that have caused Foote and now Commodore to head for the exit.

"Mike Babcock was without a doubt an obstacle in my career," said Commodore of the coach who traded him from Anaheim to Calgary in 2003. "I thought he put his best foot forward to bury me."

"The only thing I ever questioned about Mike was his conditioning," Babcock said. "In my mind, Mike always has been a quality guy. When he came up, I didn't think he was in condition. That's it."

"It didn't take long before I knew I had a one-way ticket to (minor-league affiliate) Cincinnati," Commodore said. He admits he took a poor attitude to the minors, where he spent three or four nights a week drinking.
