Another great character victory for the Wings... with all the injuries they already had, and then Stu going down on the terrible hit, they STILL found a win to get 2 points. For the way things are going, I have no complaints about anyone's play tonight because we should just be happy with the hard work the boys did tonight. When I say anyone, I mean the players, Howard however has been pulling my hair. 4 goals against, again, is not acceptable. 3 of the 4 goals were not good goals to let in, and were at a very bad time... it is goals like that that kills momentum for teams. Sure, he had a good finish to the game, but we cannot continue to play him in all of these games because this Wings team, with all of these injuries, cannot score all these goals a game... especially with Stu being out for a long while with a broken jaw now. I would like to see Ozzie play tomorrow night and if he plays solid again I want to see him spliting time evenly with Howard.

Next game, can the Wings request to give the Canucks 3 goals before the start of the game, just to get that out of the way and save everyone the time and frustration? <_< .

Wings do need to stop this "s*** in P1 & P2, the come out strong in P3" s***? It's burned them more times this season than it hasn't, it seems.

Not a pretty win by all involved, but they don't award extra points for beauty.

Past 13 games, the Wings have given up less than 3 goals only twice (the 5-2 win against STL and the 4-1 win against MIN). They HAVE to focus on the defense outside of Howie/Ozzie, as 3/more goals have gone by them in roughly the same amount of games. At least goals weren't going in on Howie off of half the state of Michigan like it was against PHI.

Disappointed to see Jimmy "Four Goals" Howard show up, but in fairness those goals probably weren't his fault. Getting tired of seeing him flat on the ice every chance he gets. I understand goalies need to take away the bottom of the net but I don't think I've seen a goalie so eager to go flat on his stomach at every save. He's clearly not the goalie we thought he was and at this point has played himself into a backup role. Hopefully Ozzie can keep playing well and earn the start. It'd suck to have two backups.

Also, the Wings were pretty sloppy for most of the game but still came out with the win. Like others have said, this was a good character victory, much needed, and happy to see Rafalski get two and Bertuzzi get the winner. Now that this game is out of the way, 60 minutes tomorrow night, please! A win against Vancouver is the closest to a must-win they've played this year!

I was following along on cbssports.com, I didn't have it on tv, it was on an extra Calgary station which I couldn't find, oh well. Looks like Howard was shaky at first but settled in. Another great road win, and takes a little pressure off tomorrow's game in Vancouver. We already got 4 points on this Western Canadian trip, so another 1 or 2 points against the 'nucks is a bonus.

Yea, that's what I saw... can't really blame Howard for the goals but he found his rhythm after that 4th goal (thankfully). I also felt like those weren't the Wings playing there, just not the team I'd like to see, but found a way to win so I'm happy. Without those softies we lose bad.

Great to see Hank calling for a suspension. That right there shows leadership.

He looked very displeased. I think the Wings know that if Stu played for any other team, that would be cause for suspension. Perhaps the league will surprise us.

How long are players normally out with a Broken jaw? These damn injuries never end!

Selanne was out for about 3 weeks last year with a broken jaw. Broke on January 13th, and he returned February 1st.

It's usually a 3-6 weeks kind of injury, FWIW.

Crap. Not good. Any estimates on how long he's out or will he play with a cage like Tocchet did in the early 90's?

Not sure.

Cleary missed 19 games when he broke his jaw. I think it was 6-8 weeks for him. But I think he also needed surgery. Stuart may not.

Plus you lose a lot of weight because you can't eat. So even when a player comes back, they're not really all the way back for a while.

No.

Grabbing Kostoupopus and beating his ass shows leadership.

No retaliation from anyone on the team.

Well, it couldn't have been a defenseman, since with Stuart injured we only had five. It couldn't have been one of the forwards willing to fight because we needed them to press the attack to climb back into the game, so I'm okay with it.

Maybe next time we face them.

Kinda wondering, can anyone quote exactly what he said?

Keating asked Hank 'How did you feel when you were helping Stuart off this ice'

Hank: 'I hope there is a suspension coming.'

Thanks.

Ugh.... Great, just what we need. Well at least most of them are coming back at about the same time.

Yeah but that's not Hanks job. Do you want to see him do that and then get KO'd the f*** out? It's someone else's responsibilty on this team to step up and pound his face in. I agree that some retaliation should've happend, just not Hank.
