For the record, I think Crosby's a super-talented whiny little *****. But this forum's obsession with him has gotten just sad. Who gives a crap? People complain about how the NHL gives him way too much attention, but how much do we give him here? So was the boarding by Hedman. I can slightly excuse the Hedman hit, because you see that hit every game, but the cheapshot at the WC warranted a suspension. If it was on purpose, yes, the Steckel hit deserves a suspension, probably pretty lengthy. Problem is, you can't really tell if it was on purpose or not and the league determined it to be accidental. Personally, I don't think it was on purpose, but he probably could have done more to get out of the way. It's not like the Cooke and Richard's hits where it was pretty obvious that they were trying to go for the hit, so the only person that really knows is Steckel. I'm actually a little disgusted with a lot of people on here loving Steckel now because of the hit. I probably would have been the same way several years ago, but after learning what we now konw about head injuries, there's nothing to like about a hit like that and nothing to laugh about in terms of concussions, I don't care who the player is. Not in those specific seats but I shall be in attendance. Last year's March 22nd game was a site to see. One of the loudest crowds I have had the pleasure to be apart of. I was watching this game with my fiancee, who I am sad to say is "one of them" , and she threw something at me for cheering Howie and calling Sid some colorful terms. I just pray they dont make the SCF otherwise it will be another long 1.5-2 weeks for me and her. Seeing LGP you would think someone had Sid whacked, there is talk of assassinating anyone who looks at him wrong. Im all for defending a teammate when he is bullied but when he is an instigator like Sid I think you need to let him prove his mettle, but just a homer opinion I guess. I have been to game 5 of the Finals of '02 and the McCarty-Lemieux fight at center ice, so this one is not quite as good as those but it ranks in the top 5 for sure. I've seen that whole altercation from another angle, and it looks a lot like Zetterberg spears him in the groin area right off the face-off. It's kinda hard to make out, but if that was the case then I'd completely understand the crosschecks to Z.
