titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 8, 2011 Ozzie is at least out for tonight's game against VAN. He had groin problems earlier this season as well. If he were to have the surgery, how long would he be out for?

If he were to have the surgery, how long would he be out for? would be March, but that Vancouver sports writer said he may have misheard about the extent of the injury, and that he can't get confirmation now so has to retract the statement so who knows, hope for the best I guess

rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted January 8, 2011 Draper had groin surgery at the beginning of the season and was out for how long? Assuming this is not an over assumption, that wouldn't be good for the Oz, he was starting to look okay in net. With Ozzy on the edge, Stu for 6-8, and now Filppula out until at least next week, why are our boys dropping like flies? Who angered the hockey gods?

Hockeytown_Ryan 119 Report post Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Ansar Kahn VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood is expected to see Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia this week to determine if he needs surgery for his groin injury. Osgood will back-up Jimmy Howard for tonight's game in Vancouver, then return home on Sunday. The club will recall Joey MacDonald from the Grand Rapids Griffins to serve as Howard's backup for Monday's game in Colorado. Osgood has been bothered by this groin problem for the last couple of months. He missed all of November because of the injury. General manager Ken Holland said they need to do "some investigating'' about Osgood's injury and that they're leaning toward sending him to see Meyers, who has performed sports hernia surgery on, among others, Kris Draper and Tomas Holmstrom. "He's played with groin pain, it hasn't gotten better. It's gotten to be more of a concern,'' Holland said. "It's early January, it's important to get him checked out now. If he does need surgery, we'll need a period of time to get him back. "We're going to try to be proactive, take a look at it, see what's wrong.'' Story Micheal Leighton? if he misses any REAL time that is. Edited January 8, 2011 by Hockeytown_Ryan

Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted January 8, 2011 I call Colonel Mustard in the ballroom with the lead pipe. "Just like the Mounties. We always get our man." "Mrs. Peacock was a MAN?!" Anyways, this could be really bad news. I've been of the opinion that Ozzie needed more starts to try and push Howard to get better. No offense to the guy, but I think J-Mac would have a much harder time trying to do the same.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 9, 2011 On the upside, he's been playing pretty damn well in general let alone for someone who's been bothered by a lingering groin injury. Perhaps he'll come back even stronger. We definitely need him to be ready in a few months, so I guess whatever it takes. If Howard can't get it together, it may not be pretty over the next couple months, but I have no doubt we'll win enough games to stay in the playoff race and that's all that matters to me. Miss Wing Queen 154 Report post Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) who will be injured next in what game and what body part? I call Darren Helm on Monday against the Avs with a broken arm I call Paul Boyer with a festering wound caused by a splinter from carrying all the hockey sticks. How about TMc instead of JMac? Joey was just okay when he filled in some. How about seeing what Tommy boy does in an NHL game? And by the way, psychologically, I can't take all these injuries anymore. I'm going into hibernation for the sake of my mental health. Somebody please wake me when it's March. P.S. Anybody wonder if Malts is kicking himself for retiring? He probably would have been called up (not that I would have wanted the call ups taken away from Tatar and Mursak). I really doubt they would trust him to start a NHL game I wouldn't mind Larsson getting a shot at back up if Osgood is gone a while, but because of his SEL contract he can't until next year I think Edited January 9, 2011 by ricky0034
