Name Me a Better 2-Way Player Today than Henrik Zetterberg…

Why would we want to turn Pavel or Hank of each other. Wouldn't be more beneficial to combine their efforts to create a very effective and potent combo?

Say we put them together on a line together and since they both are from Europe we could the pair the "Euro Twins" or something, how does that sound?

That sounds good. Tell us more.

If it was the last minute of a game and we are up by one, I want Datsyuk out there. If it's the last minute and the other team is on the Power Play, then I want Zetterberg out there. If there is an empty net involved, i want Draper out there.

If its the last minute of a hockey game and we are up by one I would like Dats and Z out there, I would also like to see Helm with those two! Imagine how many time he would get them the puck, or be launched on a breakaway. This team makes me happysmile.gif

Datsyuk, Filppula and Zetterberg with great plays to seal a playoff victory:

Datsyuk is absolutely better. Zetterberg's great and a true superstar, but Datsyuk is just better, plain and simple.

To me it depends on what exactly you consider a two-way player.

Dats is going to make more plays and get you more points, while still being great defensively. Zetterberg won't make quite as many plays or score as many points, but he's the better shutdown guy of the two.

The HF Wings board? See, they say the same thing about LGW. I don't know who to believe.

I post on both. HF is way better for discussing prospects, grand rapids and there is much less homerism because fans of other teams can chime in. Sometimes the homerism here gets sickening and makes it hard to have a real hockey talk.

Here I think there is a lot better talk about the actual wings and their organization which is good too.

I dont really like one more then the other, but I do think the people who say "Oh this one is garbage blah blah blah" havent really gave the other a fair shake or dont really know what theyre talking about.

Zetterberg was 3 points behind Datsyuk at the end of the night the last game Datsyuk played. 12-24-36 in 33 games for Z against 12-27-39 for Dats. Since Dats went down, Z has scored 4-9-13 in 10 games, which projects to 13-30-43 over 33 games.

Z has been making great offensive plays all season, no matter who he's with, no matter the situation. People were saying his scoring would drop without Datsyuk; instead it's increased by 20%. Z is Datsyuk's equal offensively, and better defensively. It's like the Yzerman/Fedorov situation. If the Wings never drafted Fedorov, Yzerman would have kept on scoring 100 points, even with an improved defensive game. Why? Because it would have been necessary for him to drive the offensive engine. In the 90s, the offense was shifted to Fedorov as the primary force. Yzerman was the secondary offensive force, and was used as a skilled matchup center in much the same fashion that Z is used by the Wings when the twins are split, or how Flip has been used this season. It took away from his offensive performance but his top-end skill, experience, and clutch play led to more wins for the team.

Realistically the best two-way player is Lidstrom, but this thread is really about forwards, so he doesn't really apply.

Ewwwwwww... change the title. I think you dragged some HF smell over here with this thread.

Although, my favorite assessment was the guy that said that Crosby is the best player in the league, and plays 2-way hockey... so therefore, he is the best two-way player in the NHL. Greatest logic ever.

the only defensive hockey crosby plays is he learned how to win faceoffs in the offseason. whoever said he's the best 2-way player in the game is a ******* un-educated piece of penguin blowing retard. can i say retard here?

you want a bad case of homerism...go to tsn.ca and look at all the canucks fans express their overboard man love on "your call" for kesler saying he might be the best player in the NHL. good read if you need a laugh. polls are only good if you do a poll where your favorite players/team aren't involved in it, cause homerism will always come in to play. for example, the best Dman in the NHL is Lidstrom, best 2 way fwd is Dats or Z. Best goalie in the NHL...i'd take Henrik Lundqvist right now. so 2 out of 3 are wings...homer or not, i may not be wrong unless you ask a pens or canucks fan.

That smirk means Parise is codename for Datsyuk. Subliminal messages all over the place!!! :ninja:

Yup!!! He has straight man love for The Hank. Maybe not straight judging by the grin but you better believe he wants Z on his team. See: EVERY SINGLE GAME THEY PLAY

...Yeah I don't buy it. Something sinister is going on. Maybe he's trying to give Z some bad publicity or something. Fans are going to think, "Oh yeah! Zetterberg is cool!... Wait, why isn't he at the all-star game?... What??? What a ******!"

I'm actually a little surprised he said Z. In post game interviews in the past I've felt like Crosby rarely credits his opponent for beating them, instead making it sound as if they lost.

I guess given the wars with Zetterberg he had two playoffs in a row, he has some respect underneath those crosscheck's to Z's back. :P

I'm shocked too. That's honestly the first time I've ever heard him give another player credit for, well, anything.
