Red Wings asked NHL not to pick Zetterberg for all star game

Far from it. But he's the only topic of this conversation right now. And his wife is worth noting.

I like to see hockey wives. There's usually such a massive difference in attractiveness. (Mrs. Pronger, anybody?)

I'm just saying that every player could skip the game for wanting to spend more time with the family.

It's called money. And it has a loooot of power.

Yep. Especially when any kind of celebrity status is attached to it. Some things will just never change.

True enough. I think I heard one of the announcers mention Z's back bothering him during a recent game. Either way, I'm sure his back was the excuse. It's always his back.

Besides, if I want to watch the league's best players play hockey, I'll turn on a Red Wings game.

This! We're big homers I guess. However, for some reason I do belive we play the best hockey and have the best players...

This is true. I think we need to devise a scale or a weighted measure of some kind, whereby we determine the likelihood of X woman having anything to do with Y man, were he not a semi-famous athlete with some scratch to his name.

For example, the uglier the guy and the hotter the girl, the less likely she would be to seen with him, if he weren't rich. We'll call it the Ric Ocasek Scale. Not necessarily impugning their marriage, just that have you see Ric Ocasek? Yikes.

You definitely gotta find a way to factor in, at the very least, a woman's background, her upbringing and overall self-esteem across the life-span if that's possible.

And I had no idea how Ric Ocasek was. You made me google him. And... Yeah... His wife... I mean, that's love, I guess, you know? They say it's not supposed to be rational, so it is what it is I guess.

It doesn't work with us regla folk. ;) Besides, I doubt you're ugly.

Would depend on whom you are asking. I have been given anywhere from a 6 to a 2. Not much room for error. But waking up next to a smokin lady every day is probably God's greatest gift he has bestowed upon me next to Detroit Red Wings fandom. Well, maybe that isn't as good lol.

Mind sharing your secret?

Z wasn't picked because the NHL wanted to see Crosby get SOME kind of offensive chance...

You realize the captains pick their own team now? Z and Cindy could of played on for the same team... God.... :withstupid:

Although it's definitely true that the Red Wings may have asked the NHL to not include Zetterberg in the ASG (and as Dregger noted the Flyers may have done the same with some of their players) but what I find very strange is that there isn't any official word from the NHL or even the Detroit Red Wings themselves to settle the fans. Zetterberg is tied for 6th in the league in scoring, and 4th in assists. He is a clear cut all-star. I've noted in other threads that I'd just assume he rest but he clearly deserves the honour. At the moment it just looks like the NHL passed him over. If the NHL were smart they'd release a statement noting that he was left off the roster as a courtesy to the Wings and not because he was passed over.

Right now we have a bunch of media and jackasses like Eklund speculating as to why he wasnt included. Then you have a bunch of fans who are pissed off. THen there are some of us who are happy he gets to rest and some of us who feel he should have gotten the respect of being named and then he could have happily declined.

This is just not the way to do things. I remember looking forward to the Allstar weekend for weeks, now it seems to be more of a joke then anything. This along with Lids and Dats a while back just doesnt help the situation, nor does it look good on us in my opinion. I just think that as part of the NHL these players get paid a lot of money, if you are a special enough player to be chosen to go it should be an honor. Ladies and gentleman my two cents.

Crosby probably would've picked him too. They have a history playing each other and would probably enjoy the chance to play together once.

Crosby's probably the reason he didn't get into the ASG. He probably pissed and moaned that he didn't want to get showed up.
