COLUMBUS, Ohio -- More bad news for the Detroit Red Wings, as coach Mike Babcock said after Friday's 3-2 shootout loss to Columbus that forward Tomas Holmstrom suffered a broken right hand late in the third period and will be out at least four weeks.

Holmstrom said he's not sure it was from a slash or he got hit with the puck.

"I don’t know, I was battling around the net and I felt something,'' Holmstrom said. "I got to the bench and I felt like I can’t hold onto the stick anymore.’’

He will see a hand specialist on Saturday to determine if surgery is needed.

“I feel like (bleep),'' Holmstrom said.

The Red Wings, who have no extra healthy skaters, are expected to recall Tomas Tatar from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Is it me or does anyone else have the thought running through their head "Who's hurt now" everytime you check this site after a game or the morning after a game? I suppose we should all be used to this by now.

Wow.

Who ya gonna call up? Tater? iFlip? Tardif? Klima? Kocur?

Quick! Kenny, call into 97.1! Get D-Mac back! "

Do the guys think there is an annual DL Cancun vacation this time of year? By All-Star break do they think thier wrists, hands, and ankles?

Ok guys....i have the over/under set at 3 games before Zetterberg goes down. Followed by Babcock in a freak staring accident and our video coordinater to clinical depression after replaying guys injurys over and over.

We're really in for it now, guys. Hopefully this doesn't affect Holmstrom down the road. He already has a history of back problems, he doesn't need anything else :( Homer is one of my favorite Wings. Anyway, who will get the call? Could we be poised to make a deal for a rental in preparation for more injuries down the stretch?

hope homer comes back alright, these hand injuries can linger..

on a positive note, we get to see more of tatar and i wouldn't mind seeing him get time in the top 6 and on the PP. keep the bottom lines in tact since they have been playing so well together.

Michael Scott sums up my feelings about the Red Wings injury streak -

"It feels like somebody took my heart and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears. And at the same time, somebody else is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledge hammer. And then a third guy walks in and starts punching me in the grief bone."

Time to look for a rental?
