I'm predicting a strong performance from Joey Mac and a bizarre 4-1 win.

Compared to last year: DET Henrik Zetterberg (separated shoulder) out, Jonathan Ericsson (knee bruise) out, Dan Cleary (separated shoulder) out,
Niklas Kronwall (sprained left MCL) out, Jason Williams (fractured right fibula) out, Valtteri Filppula (broken wrist) out,
Johan Franzen (torn ACL) out, Andreas Lilja (concussion) out
Not sure which is worse, but with two goalies out... I'm thinking this year. Ugh.
But you have to consider the timing. Last year we lost Franzen in game 3 and he didn't return until the end of February. The Wings did not have the significant injuries (except for Modano) until recently and thank God they banked alot of points early.
Cleary and Dats will most likely only miss 5 more games (including tonight) because of the fortunate timing of the all star break. Howard is day to day so my guess is he play Tuesday or Thursday.
I don't think that this is nearly as bad as last year. We only have two GR guys playing for a significant period of time. Our extra forward and D-man get more minutes.
We will survive and most likely still win the division and finish 2nd or worst case 3rd.

With all the youth on the ice, I can see a ton of turnovers in this game but also a ton of energy.
Wings 3
Jackets 2
GO WINGS GO!!!
Really? Who are all these young guys that are going to turn over the puck. The only guys that aren't regulars are Tatar and Mursak. Mursak will be in his 10th straight game and has looked pretty solid. Kindl is normally our 7th D-man and has played in 16. It's not like we have a bus load of GR players coming in.
I think the Wings will grind out a win. After all they are playing the Columbus Blue Jackets. As long as Joey plays well, we will get the 2 points and most likely Jimmy will be back in on Tuesday.

I say that Nick will take a puck to the yambag in the 2nd, and be out 6 weeks.

Would love to see either Mursak and Tatar score, both would be too much!
Filppula had an outstanding game last night, hopefully he can repeat the magic.
Go Wings!b
Ken Holland: He’s (Mursak) a young guy, provides energy, can skate, he’s a puck hound.

This is like so-and-so sucks, right?Rather than guessing if the Wings will win or not, we should start guessing what player will get injured, when, and how.
I say that Nick will take a puck to the yambag in the 2nd, and be out 6 weeks.
Wings 3-1 thanks to an empty netter.

The jackets cannot hack it, they can stick it in their ear.
Do I hear a yippee and a yahooo for the young'ns?!
"He even ate with women who at that time were accorded the same status as the family donkey. Are we willing to break bread with, say, child sex slaves, transgender teens and undocumented workers? Because when Jesus comes back to Earth, that's where he'll be hanging."
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.
Money on the Board - 100 bucks on the base. From here on, one buck per puck IN goal, win or lose!
Total right now: $110.

Last season the injuries forced the team to rely on the remaining key players to be over worked because they were outside looking in of the playoff picture for a lot of the season. This year they are near the top of the standings and because of that they can spread a lot of the work load on the young guns being put into the line up, and players like Eaves who has really stepped it up. Once we get Datsyuk and Cleary back things will get easier, and hopefully the injury to Howard it not overly serious and that he only has to miss a handful of games. They'll have the last month of the season to get Mo, Stewie, and Ozzie back into game shape, so assuming there is no more significant injuries to key players they should be fine. The Allstar break coming up is a huge blessing as well.
