THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG

Rate this topic

So let me get this straight. The Red Wings ask the NHL not to invite Z to the ASG. The NHL grants the request, Z is not chosen. This guy wants the NHL to fine Zetterberg because his club dared make a request and the NHL complied. Surely the guilty party here would be the NHL, seeing how they're the only ones why actually made a decision in this chain of events. Maybe next they can start giving out fines to players for bad calls...

The Red Wings are to the NHL what the Yankees are to baseball, what the Patriots are to football, and what the Lakers are to basketball.

Any chance a "writer" has to criticize a player from any of the above-mentioned teams, they'll take it. Why? They're guaranteed readers/debate/discussion. The same happened in the late 80s and 90s with the Chicago Bulls and the Dallas Cowboys.

We really ought to be happy that someone from outside Detroit knows who the hell Hank is, considering the NHL markets only two players.....and he ain't one of them.

Did everyone forget about this?

No... no one did. Those who actually read the article, read this:

Two years ago, Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk were both suspended a game for not taking part in the all-star weekend festivities after both begged off the game with injuries. They weren't suspended for not playing, but for not being in Montreal for the weekend. It was under an NHL rule that stated for a player to beg off the all-star festivities because of injury, he had to sit out either the game before or after to prove his injury was legitimate. But this time around, apparently it's all right by the league for a player to take a pass.

Thanks for reminding me again that Crybaby was a lying punk throughout that incident and didn't hesitate to take shots at Dats and Lids.

"My plan was to come here from the moment that I decided that I wasn't going to play due to injury."

Which is bulls***, because he wasn't planning on attending until a call with Daddy Bettman. But that's neither here nor there this year (unless Crybaby doesn't fulfill his meet and greet duties this season).

What it comes down to is that the ASG is a sham and the majority of vocal hockey fans on the internet know it.

Didn't realize he was a Hockey News writer... that rag is one step away from covering the vampire baby from Mars.

At first I thought he was a complete moron. But it's worse. He writes for the Hockey News. He probably took a break between paragraphs to dig lint out of his bellybutton.

Exactly. They asked the NHL to let him skip the game. The NHL could have said no. The league had the final word in whether he went or not and they made the final roster.

Winner. This pretty much ends the thread right here.

All star game is a big event for the suites of the NHL u show off all the talent you have in your organization out to the people so you get more ticket sales. And a big deal for the sponsors to. I 100% agree that avoiders should be disciplined. Did Emma reject Campbell or something? You'd think that was the case reading his attitude towards Zetterberg.

Not really. A lot of people think that way. As a popular example, Brian Burke would say the same thing as the author and Duck Guy. Work is not about fun, it's about work and yadda yadda yadda.

Wonder if Campbell is going to call for Crybaby to be disciplined now.

Whine, Sid, whine. Once again, he's showing his inferiority complex to Zata.

If Sidney's still out with a concussion, would they even let him play in the ASG?

They'll probably still make him captain (and I refuse to believe that the players are such sheep that they'd make Crosby a captain, but Bettman probably demands it), but he'll just lead everyone from the bench, because he's that fantastic a leader. Then they'll make everyone on the ice salute his strength in the face of adversity and show a montage of Crosby highlights (sorry, no ball punching or slewfooting included) set to some song by Train.
