CopenhagenWing 38 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 McKenzie: Twitter Great example you're setting as a mod. Let's stick to the topic on hand and not resort to petty insults. One unnecessary remark deserves another. The fatigue/starting too much issue was already mentioned in my initial response. We're not disagreeing here. cupforwings 138 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 Everybody seems to think that he won't clear waivers, but I don't see why he wouldn't... Every other team could have negotiated with him and didn't. That, and the fact that Holland is no dummy, leads me to believe that he will clear and be a wing. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 Yeah, per Bob McKenzie - the waiver rule applies to anyone coming over from Europe. Otherwise teams could hide players in Europe until the start of the season. Thanks for this. I did not understand the waiver thing but I'm beginning to. Well that was before Detroit showed some interest in him. You know there are teams that will want to pick him up just for the fact Detroit wont be able to. And he;s not a bad goalie to have. so it would be win win for a lot of teams that are going to be first in line for him.
One4TheWings 11 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 Article just posted to Detroit Red Wings.com ... just the rumor report. But why would Detroit post that rumor if there wasn't more to it? 1 Vladifan reacted to this
Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) One unnecessary remark deserves another. The fatigue/starting too much issue was already mentioned in my initial response. We're not disagreeing here. That's awesome to hear coming from a mod. Being asked to start almost every regular season game is more than fatigue. It's irresponsible on the team's part. So yes, we are disagreeing. It's the sole reason why he wasn't able to perform at his best in the playoffs. So whatever you meant by "fatigue or whatever" I am disagreeing with. There is no whatever in this case and it's more than basic fatigue. Edited January 20, 2011 by Howard He Do It?!

wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 What about getting him by having to pay 1/2 his salary ... 50% discount? A team claiming him would have to pay his full salary. Only on re-entry waivers does a team pay half a players salary that you are referring to. 1 stevkrause reacted to this

Only on re-entry waivers does a team pay half a players salary that you are referring to. ding, ding... and his agent could still play hardball too and put out a feeler to other teams that A. If anyone claims him, he'll retire and B. If they piss off the agent, he'll make them pay later when it comes to signing another one of his clients... Never underestimate that as well... this rumor is starting to pick up serious steam if it is on the Wings official page... 1 Vladifan reacted to this
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 I would absolutely love to see Nabby on the wings, I've always liked him. I guess the brass isn't so high on Jimmy. Interesting.

Doesn't have to mean that at all... he can be a backup/1b option... if anything it tells me that they're not too high on Ozzie returning...
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 I would absolutely love to see Nabby on the wings, I've always liked him. I guess the brass isn't so high on Jimmy. Interesting. I think it's because Osgood is done for the year (and likely career) and MacDonald would not be very good backup come playoff time. Not to mention Howard played like crap lately. Could you imagine how hard Jimmy would have to work with Nabby right behind his back? This is a good move on so many levels. 3 Vladifan, Rick D and Hockeytown_Ryan reacted to this
Travis 576 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 Doesn't have to mean that at all... he can be a backup/1b option... if anything it tells me that they're not too high on Ozzie returning... This. I just said to my friend that this is like a poor man's 1A/1B from the '08 Cup run. I think Nabby/Howard is a great 1-2 punch and would anticipate them splitting games the rest of the way. I can't possibly imagine that they'd bring in Nabby and just bench Howard.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 No more Joey? Sign me up. If he ends up clearing waivers, I'm feeling a lot better about our team. Of course he'll probably immediately tear a groin muscle when he first steps on the ice for the Wings. /reverse jinx!

If howard keeps playing hit and miss like he's doing. If we were to get nabby i could see us going with him for sure.
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 The Wings NEED another goalie. Osgood has been living on IR for the last two years and Howie can't/shouldn't play every night. If Howie gets injured in the playoffs, you can't turn to a guy that's keeps getting injured and would you really want the season hanging on Joey MacDonald? Nabby and Howie would be a great tandem and it would keep them fresh into the playoffs. 2 Hockeytown_Ryan and WizardOfOz30 reacted to this
Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Doesn't have to mean that at all... he can be a backup/1b option... if anything it tells me that they're not too high on Ozzie returning... That's what I'm thinking too. Ozzie's probably done, that's probably the #1 reason why we're getting Nabokov. No way he'll be the starter, the KHL is a step down, it takes times for players to get back into the NHL ways, Hudler is a perfect example. It's a low risk move, but could turn out to be a great one! Edit: Also it says Nabokov hasn't played anywhere since December 13th. He'll be the back up. Report: Nabokov bound for Detroit?
