Something medically similar happened to Tomas Vokoun in 2006, kept him out of the playoffs when he was with the Predators. He had blood clots which could have broken off and killed him, but they caught it in time, put him on blood thinners for a while, and he is fine now.

Best of luck to this Tomas, and may he have similar good fortune and a full recovery.

Must be a tough day for him to get that kind of news, but as others have said it could have been worse. Good job by the team doctors to spot it when they did. He is a good young player, its too bad for him.
