gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Bob McKenzie Twitter... This was a favor for Meehan plain and simple This may be the only thing that makes sense to me. I would be utterly shocked if he's still a Wing on Saturday. SHOCKED. If you're excited, you're setting yourself up to be disappointed.

robat 13 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Cannot be put on Waivers without his permission.... No Movement Clause Yes once the contract is into effect. If a team claims him and tries to trade him he must go back through waivers per league rule.
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Kenny called all GM's and basically threatened them within an inch of their life if they try to pick him up. He never contacted Burke figuring he would probably just end it on his own.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Bob McKenzie Twitter... This was a favor for Meehan plain and simple So thats it right there. It was simply a move to get him back in the NHL. The fact that his agent actually addressed all the NHL teams with Nabokov's desired conditions means that he's open to playing with anyone. Bottomline, he aint commin to Detroit.. stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Yes you do. Whoever claims him, can't trade him unless he passes through Waivers again. This has been covered about 100 times now. Section 13.20 of the waiver section of the CBA - a player needs to be offered ONLY to the other teams that made a claim, before being traded... this is NOT the same as him going all the way through waivers again... For players returning from Euro (Nabokov) who are claimed by another team after signing. That team can't trade him without waivers again. http://twitter.com/DarrenDreger Keep in mind, if Nabokov is claimed by a team and Nabokov doesn't like the situation, he can simply refuse to report and not play this year http://twitter.com/tsnbobmckenzie

The fact that his agent actually addressed all the NHL teams with Nabokov's desired conditions means that he's open to playing with anyone. Bottomline, he aint commin to Detroit.. That's how I see it..... Ken and Mickey were saying basically who ever gets him MUST carry him the rest of the season.... so He has to stay at the NHL level if he is claimed. Bob Mckenzie If claimed on waivers by another team, Nabokov cannot be traded or waived again without DET having first option to take him back.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Holland has to know that he would get claimed at such a low price. He's got to have something planned. 1 Vladifan reacted to this
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Call me crazy, but I actually think he's going to end up clearing, whether he basically makes it known he will just not report, or because his agent represents half the nhl and basically says "my client wants to go to Detroit, f*ck this up and maybe I convince one of your other players to make re-signing them hell when their current contract is up - your call" 1 13dangledangle reacted to this

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 Even more intriguing McKenzie: So if NJ picks up Nabakov off waivers then puts them back on waivers (maybe with a couple incentives from Holland), the Wings get first dibs, essentially bypassing the other 28 teams? achildr1 255 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 I can see this being Kenny doing Nabby a favor, getting him back in some games with anyone before the season ends, then signing him for next year for the favor. Generally, anyway. I can't see how this isn't going to amount to something for us eventually.

theman19 47 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 bottom line, Ken Holland is to smart to sign a guy just to see another team claim him. This is either greasing the wheels for a trade later on, or he plays for the islanders for a while and at the deadline gets waived back to Detroit.

But you have to remember, there's a chance the Wings may not have any legitimate interest in him at all, so that could be a moot point. I'm not rules expert, but if he gets claimed and then another team tries to claim him, does he only have to clear through Detroit? Maybe Detroit's "assured" someone who actually wants him that they won't take him in exchange for some other "assurance." Yeah, probably not...another regretful trip down conspiracy lane.
