"a liar of a man" LOL

he's a coach. if he thinks ozzie is playing like dogs***, he benches him. that's the way it works.

he's not here to make friends - not with ozzie, and not with delusional ozzie supporters.

Everyone here is over analyzing the situation. Nabokov will be a Red Wing or won't be in the NHL at all. Think about it...

Nabokov wants to play for the Wings; obviously. Unfortunately, he has the possibility of being snatched away on waivers. If Nabokov is claimed by another team then he can just say that he doesn't want to play for that team. He's not signing to play for any NHL team, he's signing to play with the RED WINGS. 250k is peanuts for a guy that just made 30 million over the last 5 years. For a guy making this much money, it wouldn't be worth moving across continents to play with a subpar team that has no chance of winning.

My gut says that Nabokov will be a RED WING. However, if he is claimed, I predict he rejects the offer and stays in Russia.

Thats not what his agent says;

"Asked if there is any way Nabokov could wind up in Detroit after another club claims him, his agent, Don Meehan, said on Friday, “Anything’s possible, but not likely.”

Meehan said Nabokov will play regardless of where he ends up, nixing speculation that he would sit out the season if he were claimed by a club for whom he did not want to play.

“He wants to get visibility for next year,” Meehan said."

When Osgood went down with the injury last Season, HIS stats were "absolutely ******* destroying Howard's". Then Howard got in there, got a hundred or so games in a row, and when Osgood came BACK from injury, he got ONE game...

You remember what you want to remember.

Do you remember why Ozzie only got one game? I'll give you a hint, it rhymes with "We were trying to make the playoffs and Howard was playing Vezina caliber goaltending."

If you want to "remember" Howard's play as "Vezina caliber", be my guest. Howard was fantastic in November/early December. After that? It was the same story he's lived by his entire career, (College and AHL): Inconsistent.

Just like this year.

You remember wrong. His best month wasn't November, it was the 60 day month called Decemuary where he had roughly a .938 save percentage and a GAA of roughly 2.08.

He then finished the month Febarchay with 4 regulation loses in 26 games.

So yah, I remember what I want to remember.

what would qualify as "consistent"?

December 09: 9/11 games above .900 sv%

January 2010: 10/13 games above .900 sv%

February: 5/6 games above .900 sv%

March: 12/15 games above .900 sv%

let's compare that to osgood who was UNDER .900 vs% 13 out of his 23 starts last season, and didn't post a .900 sv% game after 1/1/2010.

Number 20 has nothing to do with it but way to look for signs. I appreciate the positive outlook.

I don't think this has anything to do with Osgood in any way. He'll be in the same boat competing once he returns and if he wants to come back next season, it's essentially a given that he'll be signed as he'll be cheap and has shown he's already willing to take a back seat.

If Howard were to end up the backup or worse yet, the 3rd guy out, simply put, he's gone come the off-season.

And with some help from Babcock's goalie management (opinion), Howard played himself into this position. I don't think the alleged anti-Osgood slant came in to play, and I think Babcock has been better, though no perfect, this year in handling that angle. He's not stupid and you better believe he realized the mistake of letting a guy rot on the bench in the playoffs. It seems like Osgood and Babcock worked out there issues in general. Babcock's had plenty of praise for Osgood since training camp.

But he's injured now and Howard is letting in 3-4 goals a game on a regular basis. That's the angle here. I'm not saying I like it and I still really would like to keep it to Osgood and Howard as I think Howard will be fine if given some more space and time to develop with Osgood carrying more weight.

I wouldn't have made this move unless I knew something that we simply don't. We're 2nd in the West and finding ways to win games despite missing a lot of guys. We just need to hang in there until Osgood's back and then let the situation between he and Osgood play out to determine who will be the tentative playoff starter and the ready backup.

I don't think you're off base it would just be nice to see a confirmation. It's funny 30 teams weren't interested, suddenly the Wings are interested and 5-10 other teams think it's a great idea!

30 Teams weren't interested at a potential $4-$6M pricetag.

At $250K? Different story, perhaps.

So get off your ass and negotiate... No one said he had to sign a 4-6 millions dollar contract. I am pretty sure an open letter to 30 teams means your willing to work within a budget for a job.

Yeah I read that McKenzie article. At the same time, I'm still quite baffled as to why Kenny would do this whole thing to begin with. There's gotta be a good reason that perhaps we don't see yet, which is what I meant by "deal behind the scenes." Perhaps as far as we know, Kenny is just moving his pawns to the center of the chess board.

From what I gather since my last post in this thread is we are all wondering the source of him being claimed? Oh and Osgood parted the red sea and Howard can jump in water and never get a drop of water on him...
