Datsyuk is back

I'm in a skeptical mood. So they "expect" him to return but what does Pav want to do?

With injured Wings it seems like you gotta take a "I'll believe it when I see it" approach, especially with the star players.

If he rushes back, we're even more screwed than we are without him. If he's not at 100%, it won't take much for something to go wrong (and let's face it, that's the story of our season thus far) and put us even further behind the 8-ball.

I'd rather suffer through games right now to be assured that when he does take the ice, he's totally and completely healed.

AWESOME! Our offense should not be getting shut out anymore! Ok, now lets get a backup goalie and fire McCrimmon. Thanks

I dunno, jmac has been pretty solid. Im more confident w/ him in net right now than howard.

Huge +1 to this. I feel the same way about Homer, Stuart, and Modano. Better to hold them out a bit longer and maybe lose a few points to have them healthy and in full flight the rest of the season and playoffs then to bring them back early and get reinjured and be gone even longer.

Oh come on. It's not like Howard has been letting in really soft goals. He hasn't been perfect, but he also hasn't been any worse than our defense and overall team play. when the skaters pick up their play, Howard will be fine.

I'm all for keeping people in check about too easily hating on Howard, but i'm gonna support the JMac love right now. I'd probably be playing him for a couple more games over Jimmy.

This. Seems rushed a little but it sure will be good to see him again.

when he got hurt they said he would be out 4-5 weeks. it's been six and a half weeks, so i don't think they are rushing him back. i doubt the wings brass is panicking that much over the two SO losses like everyone on LGW is.

Welcome back Pav!!

After watching this team for the past couple of weeks without him it has become aparent that they are not the same team with him out of the lineup (understatement). He controls so much of the play that it is ridiculous.

Can't wait to see him back out there.

Yeah, me too. Jimmy had an okay game at Columbus, but right before that he let in 5 from the Sens, so I'd like to ride the JMac train for a while and see how consistent he can be.

I think so, too. Since they've already given him some extra time, I assume it was the right amount of extra time, or else he'd be getting more of it. If he's playing tomorrow, I've got to assume that means he's taken his time, healed completely, and is rarin' to go. We've been winning without him in January; if he needed more time than this, he would've got it.

Mindfly, is that you? :P

No, I know what you're saying though honestly I'd rather he be back, and not just because of the two shutouts. He's been medically cleared to play for a couple games now. I'm guessing being 100% healed won't happen sometime until the offseason. And as you know he could get injured in some other freak way at any time, there's just no knowing.

But assuming he won't do further damage by playing, it'll be good for him to start getting back in game shape so he's back in prime form come playoffs.

He was pretty good last night against NYR. Hopefully he can be even better next game. We've seen before how a player comes back with so much adrenaline that they can play well but then sputter out in the next game.
