2/13 GDT: Bruins 2 at Red Wings 4

This is all because I picked against them in both games for the Weekend Picks.

I hope you learned a lesson. When the Wings bring it nobody can beat them. They just outscored the team with one of the best GAA in the league by a combined score of 10-3.

I'm thinking that there were 28 teams watching this on national tv whose reaction was "oh @$@@" they're back.

I daresay my housemate (a die hard Bruins fan) is not too happy at the moment, but they did look better today than they did the other day.

Looks like Pasha and Huddie are developing some good chemistry together. Perhaps that line should stay intact?

Just got back from the game, and it was one hell of a game. I was at the Boston end when Bert scored the first goal, and it felt like slow motion, watching him tease Thomas with the puck before backhanding it in! GREAT game by the boys. Nice to see Big E have a really good game, Kronwall get a nice hit in there, and Bert continuing on his hot streak.

The tribute to Ozzie was really nice, and Draper's son, Kienan, had a great birthday today, watching his dad score a goal and be named one of the three stars:

Keep her going boys, and show them Lightning whose boss!

Finally was able to watch a good game with my Dad this season! They kept losing every time that we watched a game together. Good to see an exciting game by the guys.

I just want to see a good game on NBC. Predicting a Wings win 4-2.

Wowza! Good guess! Meanwhile it was a great game. I had to watch the recording again, but even Edzo and Peener Head couldn't mess it up!

Let's go Wings. Would be good way to get goin again by winning this home and home decisively. Also, am I the only one not looking to watching the game on NBC? Among other things, I'm going to vomit each time they show Cros-***** hoisting every commercial break

The gigantic pisser for me and anyone else who can't get FSD or whoever you locals got, is that we did not get to see the Ozzie tribute. He's one of my faves, and we may never get to see it. GRRRRR... :ranting:

Or did you absolutely have to be at the game to see it?

Lets count how many times the Bruins hit a player that is down to prevent them from getting up (definition of interference IMO)

After Z goes down awkward its really classy to hit him on the way back up Chara.

It sure as hell helped my attitude to see Chara beaten later by our 2-on-1 goal in the third. I'm ignoring the fact that his own guys got beat in the neutral zone. :P

You didn't miss it because NBC didn't air it (that I know of). Here's the video they showed at the Joe today. They also showed it on 12/31 against the Islanders, and everyone gave Ozzie a standing ovation and the chant of "Ozzie" was so loud that night. This afternoon was nice too, but not as fresh off his 400th victory as the 12/31 game was.

No problem! I recorded the video today at the game, but I dare say, the RW TV one is better quality. I got a little teary eyed too watching it.

And people on LGR will still *****

I agree. A goaltender can have a high save percentage if the goalie doesn't have to turn into a pretzel to make tough saves. If the defense keeps the shots to the outside and the shots are not screened, the goalie is going to have a high save percentage and make saves look easy. The two goals Howard allowed today were not his fault at all. Just as the 4 goals that Thomas allowed today were not his fault at all. All were the result of giveaways, blown coverages, or lack of defensive help.

In the end, the result will be the same. Look on the hfboards for instance. The Boston fans are bitching at Thomas about two rebounds he kicked out that resulted in goals. I am convinced that any rebounds are going to be looked at negatively, but the fact of the matter is that even the best goalies give them up. The difference is the support of the defense on each team. The better defensive teams turn rebounds into a non issue.

Correct.

Yesterday someone (Xitium) criticized Howard's rebound control for a rebound given up on a wraparound.
