Leafs get Voros from Ducks

There is something weird about Burke.

He wants these big tough teams then acquires one player in Orr who is actually really tough. Brown, Voros, Phaneuf, Komisarek etc are all bad fighters. I realize that some are pretty solid hockey players but if he wants a truculent team he really isnt getting anyone all that scary.

This team is not close to as tough as the ducks in 07. Voros is an awful fighter, unless maybe he has a trade involving Brown in the works? He always likes to have a heavyweight and a middleweight fighter in the lineup

I'm trying to figure out which team is more of a circus to watch, Toronto or the Isles.

The difference for me is that I enjoy seeing Burke flounder, but I'd actually like to see the Isles ice a good team (preferably without Wang and his little puppet Snow running things).

The Isle's, Barnum & Josh Bailey's.

The Laughs are a mess to be certain, but definetly not as messy. At least Burke has been a reletively compitant GM before. And I wonder how much ownership pushes him around too.

The Anaheim Ducks' seventh-round pick will go to the Toronto Maple Leafs as the result of a March 3, 2010 trade that sent Joey MacDonald to the Ducks in exchange for this pick.

Anaheim's getting their pick back now.

With all the moves Burke's got 1 extra pick in the 6th round this year.

Burke can try and make the Leafs as "tough" as he wants, but until he starts adding actual talent they ain't going nowhere. And that my friends is the difference between the '07 Ducks and the Leafs.

Doesn't matter how tough your team is if they do f*** all on the scoreboard.

BINGOOOOOO!!!!

So he's trading a conditional 7th rounder to toughen up the Marlies? Who does that?

The "conditional" in this pick probably means that Ducks eventually get nothing. They just wanted to dump Voros somewhere because of his 1-way contract taking cap space.

Brown just signed an extension with them, so I dont think he's going anywhere. Could be wrong though. I don't think Brown's a horrible fighter, but he's nothing great, in the fighting department. However, he plays solid defensively, which is why I think Burke wasted no time in negotiating a contract extension with him. Komisarek and Phaneuf aren't in Toronto solely to fight. Phaneuf's a decent open ice hitter. He's got a bomb too, although his offensive statistics have severely dropped. Komisarek has been a disappointment so far in his tenure in Toronto, but he's still fairly young (29). I think Voros will be an experiment for the rest of the season, and if he doesn't impress, he'll be let go in the offseason. If he proves a valuable asset to Toronto's future, i'm sure Burke will work to keep him in Toronto.

The shuffling is far from over in Toronto.

Well the 07 Ducks also had tons of firepower up front in Getzlaf, Perry and Selanni. It's probably in Burke's best interests to focus on getting a good top 6 up front and top 4 on the back end before he worries about adding sandpaper.

This trade is nothing but shuffling the deck chairs in my opinion.

The 2007 Ducks team had the perfect blend of skill, grit, and defense. Pronger, Niedermayer, and Bauchemin anchored the defense. Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, and Kunitz all could put the puck in the net and muck it up as well. Selanne and McDonald were the finesse guys. Moen, May, Parros, and Thornton were solid defensively and were relentless on the forecheck. Marchant and Pahlsson were the face off and defensive specialists. Toronto is far from that now, obviously. That was a great team. Obviously, he has made some less-than-terrific signings (Lebduh). I think Sjostrom is on his way out, in exchange for more picks. It's still a rebuilding process right now, undoubtedly.
