When the Lightning or Panthers play a northern team at home, there's always a ton of opposing jerseys in the stadium because of snow birds. In fact, didn't one of the Florida teams actually advertise to the opposing team's fans in order to sell more tickets?

Same type of thing with the Coyotes. People don't grow up in Arizona, most are transplants.

The Panthers were advertising to Montreal fans to try to sell tickets, it was pretty funny imo. But the snow birds take over down there, There were just as many Wings fans as Panthers and Lightning fans.

Indeed they did, to Habs fans. On the front page of their website was something like "Hey Canadiens fans, come see your Habs battle the Panthers in South Florida!" or something to that effect.

A similar situation was Pittsburgh at Columbus earlier this season - the ENTIRE left half of Nationwide was Penguins fans. Just look at the (maybe) 6 people who cheer the Jacket's goal at 1:18.

Well with the latest census information, it shows that michigan was the only state to have lost population. The away crowds are only going to get bigger in the next 10 years when more people move out of Michigan.

Du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du, du,
When I see you Red Wings,
I go out of my head,
I just can't get enough,
I just can't get enough,
All the things you do to me and all the things you said,
I just can't get enough.
I just can't get enough
We slip and slide and we fall in love and I just can't seem to get enough of...

I second that - always a huge amount of Wings fans here in Denver at the games. Last year I went into the restroom and it was completely full of Wings fans singing away, and then some Av's fan tried to start an Avs chant and we all drowned him out.

Fun.

I third it! I love going to the games knowing that some other Wing fan will be within high-fiving distance of us when the Wings score. So fun!

I was at game four between the Avs and the Wings in 2008. Many of the Avalanche fans had dumped their tickets after the Avs went down 3-0 in the series, and many of those tickets had been snapped up by Red Wings fans. As a result, probably one third of the fans there were wearing red. After the Avs went down 7-1 to end the second period, most of the Avs fans hit the road. By the time the game ended and the Avalanche gave their end-of-season salute, it was mostly a sea of red down around the glass.

It was great.

Its hockeytown!.. fans are everywhere! Plus many from detroit move out, but its nice to know they stay true to their hometown. I mean, I'm sure not everyone on this forum is currently living in MI, right?

And I will say, I love it just as much as the next person. Its nothing like seeing your team play away, yet spotting out all the seas of red in the crowd cheering the Wings. Its an amazing thing to watch

I was at that game too! My sister got tickets for us off of ebay! We were down in the lower bowl near the penalty box. We stayed to the end and clapped for the Avs as their season ended. We were also at game three with my nephew in the upper bowl. It was so much fun. Those are the only playoff games I've been to.

I also got to be there in Dec. for Ozzy's 400th win. What a great night. Ozzy chants all through the game!
