..but if Crosby doesn't come back until the playoffs does this matter? I don't pretend to have any kind of grasp on LTIR relief.

Honestly, not sure. Cap experts? But that argument may be purely academic at this point because...

@MurphysLaw74: As I have been told by Pittsburgh sources, Stephen Brunt now saying on Team 990 he heard "whispers" Sidney Crosby maybe done for season.

If you Google "lazy and sucks", his image comes up.

Imma let you finish, and your cap numbers are all good and all that, but imma let Kenny figure it out. Kenny's cap numbers were the best cap numbers this year.

Tabernac! Il est dommage que Pittsburgh ait signé Neal...il sera très bien avec les autres sur l'équipe, je crois. Sopel pourrait être bon pour Le Canadien, aussi, mais je dis que des conneries - je voulais juste parler en français.

I can't believe that they would trade Stastny...well, or Liles, for that matter. I know they've been having a heck of a hard time, but Liles seemed pretty darn good when we played the Avs.

Like up in the land of ice and snow,
They tell me that a Red Wing always flies.

I know this has probably been said earlier in the post but I'm in Statisics class and don't have time to read through them all.....but....is there any chance the Wings make a move (and i mean an NHL move not an AHL move) at the trade deadline?

If he gave 120% every night, he would be one of the better players in the league, but he is the definition of inconsistent and lazy, alongside Nikolai Zherdev.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

I just don't understand this. Why would any team want this guy?

In case they might be looking at highlights from roughly 10 years ago and mistake that Kovalev for the one we see today.

Maybe Pittsburgh expects that Kovalev re-lives his Penguin glory days. :/

via McKenzie:

ATL trades Brent Sopel and Nigel Dawes to MTL for Ben Maxwell and a 4th rder. Done deal.

Ben Maxwell was #Bulldogs leading scorer with 11G 29A for 40P. He was top PP producer with 7 PPP.

MTL fills their D need.

Dawes was playing with the Wolves - 25G 17A 42P. 4 years older than Maxwell.

Hmmm... Sopel is a 6th/7th DMan and Dawes is a 4th/5th liner. Maxwell has a lot of potential. I guess both teams got what they wanted, but I think Atlanta will get the best of this eventually and big time.

I'd say it's probably 50/50

It's amazing how much clarity comes when you care more about the Red Wings than any individual player.

"They are the best team in the world. They are a team that can just take over when they want to," Chicago's Patrick Kane said (of the Detroit Red Wings).

Sopel to MTL is a fair move for them.

Kovalev is a great addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kovalev will a lethal goal scorer for us. Crosby plays with Kunitz and Dupuis. Now --- Kunitz Crosby Kovalev. It's going to be scary seeing those 3 playing together.

When Kovy was a penguin he was a one man team (for the last 2-3 seasons he was with us). Everyone here is happy to have him back and we look forward to seeing the old Kovy.

Pens still have a shot at winning the cup --- As long as the Wizard of Cros comes back.
