Coyotes' Upshall suspended 2 games for hit on Bartulis

wtf was he thinking?

The goalie covering the puck suddenly makes a guy fair game around the net?

this happens a lot, upshall just happened to really crank BArtulis

I think it was a 2 minute penalty or 5 min at worst, the NHL is getting out of hand with suspensions.

Ummm what? I've never seen a guy get crushed like that after a goalie covered the puck. So no, it doesn't happen all the time. Not to mention, the player here was a defender, he wasn't a guy on the offense who was whacking away at the goalie. I've never seen an attacking player from a rush do that to the defending teams defender, it's usually the other way around where a defender is clearing the net. I'd love for you to prove me wrong though and show me instances like this, where an attacking player ends a guys season with a hit after the puck has been covered.

Upshall was guaranteed expecting Bartulis to possibly touch the puck, he had the timing down and bartulis did reach to touch the puck in Bobrovsky's glove, if the puck would have some how come out and landed on Bartulis's stick it would have been a good hit. It happens A LOT maybe you need to pay attention more, I have seen Stuey and Bertuzzi both do it in the past. And I said instances similar to this occur, though Upshall really got him good, it was a HUGE collision by any standard.

It didn't seem to late to me. Even with the slight slow motion they had it was about 1 second if that from the time the goalie had complete control to the time of the hit. Upshall wanted position and he got it by clearing out the defender.

This play is borderline IMO.

Jolly and Dragon, put the bong down. Hes lucky he didn't kill that guy. No d-man in the right mind would try to take that puck away from the goalie with 3 guys on the fore check. They would always let him freeze that. Maybe your confusing Bartulis for putting his stick down in front of the goalies glove to potentially block any poke check coming from a fore checker to prevent the puck coming free. That is a much more common play than trying to play it.

Cheap shot all day.

From the man himself:

@ScottieUpshall Scottie Upshall

-->TB. watched the highlights of our game. my hit on Bartulis was without a doubt late, but i had absolutely no intention of injuring him
