Set your playoff roster

Ok, so the likelihood of the Wings adding to the current roster before mondays deadline are about as remote as Zenon Konopka winning the

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy this year. So we have all our roster guys fit and healthy, and we add 9 Black aces for the playoff run. G MacDonald, D Smith, Meech, Janik and Fwds Mursak, Tatar, Emmerton, Tardif & I Filppula.

So with that, what you gunna do and what are your lines. Will be very interesting to see who gets left in the stands, my guess is probably some of our so called vets get to warm the stands seats abit more than they thought.

Ill start the ball rolling.

1st Line Zetterberg Datsyuk Hudler

2nd Line Franzen Modano Bertuzzi

3rd Line Eaves Filpulla V Cleary

4th Line Helm Abdelkader Draper

res Miller Holmstrom

1D Lidstrom Kronwall

2D Stuart Rafalski

3D Salei Ericsson

res Kindl/Smith

G Howard

G Osgood.

HAHA the Line Nazis will have a field day with this one. Really it doesn't matter. Babs will mix things up and go with the hot lines anyway. Well I assume their will be hot lines.

I'd go vintage with the top line - clutch on d and offense.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom

Franzen - Filppula - Hudler

Bertuzzi - Modano - Cleary

Draper - Helm - Eaves

Sit:

Abby - in for Drapes if required

Miller

Defense:

Lidstrom - Rafalski

Stuart - Kronwall

Salei - Ericsson

Sit:

Kindl

Smith

Goalies:

Howard

Osgood - although the second howard falters i wanna see if he can spark some playoff magic.

I'd like them to try Abby with Modano and Cleary again. This line was hot earlier in the season and hopefully they can continue the trend. Huds should be playing on a higher line, but hopefully he can bring some scoring to the fourth. I would also have Huds play the PP to get more ice-time.

Since you obviously know there is no roster limit come playoffs, what is the signficance of naming a 23 man roster? You can't dress 23 players.

I don't think anyone else picked up on this.

Sure we did. Same old shtick hehe.gif

Hudler-Datsyuk-Cleary (can't break that line up imo)

Filppula-Zetterberg-Franzen

Bertuzzi-Modano-Holmstrom

Draper-Helm-Eaves

(Abdelkader, until he wants to be Abby of last year Drapes gets the nod and Miller)

Lidstrom-Stuart

Ericsson-Rafalski

Salei-Kronwall

Howard (starter) Osgood

The maximum limit of a 23 man roster expires and becomes unlimited after deadline day, and it stays this way through the postseason, so why would I set a 23 man roster?

Here's what my combined group of active players, spares, and black aces look like:

Hudler - Datsyuk - Cleary

Bertuzzi - Zetterberg - Franzen

Filppula - Modano - Holmstrom

Draper - Helm - Eaves

Primary spares: Abdelkader, Miller, Mursak

Secondary spares: Tatar, Emmerton

Lidstrom - Rafalski

Kronwall - Stuart

Ericsson - Salei

(In the playoffs, the best guys are going to see more minutes than the balanced/conservative approach Babcock has been taking during the season.)

Primary spares: Kindl

Secondary spares: Smith, Janik, Meech

Howard

Osgood

Spare: MacDonald
