Well, one bad goal can be the difference between winning and losing; or in tonight's case maybe getting at least a point.

The offense obviously was also unable to get the job done, so there's plenty of blame to go around. Overall poor game for virtually everyone outside of Helm.

I'd be willing to role along with everyone here if the weak goal was the GWG but it wasn't. This game was tied and extremely winnable. The truth is that this team gave up on offense, aside from Helm. I don't want to hear anything about the refs because you cannot control that. You can control your effort on offense and it just wasn't there tonight.

Since the Wings are playing the Oilers that night I think the home crowd will probably want to be present. The next game (although a tail end of a back to back and third game in four nights) is against another cellar dweller in the Blues. That's four relatively easy points waiting to be plucked. I won't know what to say if they blow those ones.

I'll agree with the sentiment the lines were not working that well together.

I don't think it's the lines. Maybe they should just try dumping the puck in (exactly what LA did) instead of trying to stickhandle and turning it over at the blue line.

If Howard is really as bad as some are making him out to be then why don't we just bring in Joey. In your opinion he couldn't be any worse than Howard.

now that you mention it, he did have a much better GAA and sv% than howard...realize that isn't setting the bar very high, though.

I find it laughable that fans would rather continue to play Howard then a guy who has over 400 career wins and, if given the chance and is ABLE to catch fire, would give us a way better chance to win games night in and night out. Simply put, Ozzie, on his game, would have gotten us at least a point out of the game tonight. No, Howard was not the sole reason the Wings lost tonight; it was a team effort. BUT, once again, Howard failed to make the necessary save to keep his team in the game (that first goal) and that was a contributing factor in the loss as you cannot expect the Wings to come out every game to score 4 goals just so they can secure themselves a win with Howard in net./.

It's like some people don't understand that higher levels of talent come with big price tags. The kind of goalie that some around here describe is not only rare but expensive. Howard is not paid to be a world class goaltender for one reason, he's not a world class goaltender and he never will be. People who are expecting Howard to play like Lundqvist are going to be waiting for a hell of a long time.

Find me a goalie who doesn't give up rebounds. I already know what you are going to say "he gives up more rebounds than any other goalie I have seen!" Try expanding your knowledge base past the Red Wings and watch the goaltending in the NHL in general. The days of the shutdown, dominate goaltender are over, unless you have $6 million.

I'm all for trying different lines to see if something gets going, but for pete's sake, the team has been jumbled up for half the season because of injuries. Babs, maybe if you played with the same lines longer than 2 games, they'd actually develop some chemistry and generate some offense. You had a great line with Hudler-Datsyuk-Cleary, why did you split them?

I didn't think that was that bad of a game really. I think some of you just watch the scoreboard more than the game itself. "Oh we lost? we played terrible! helm scored? everyone but helm sucked tonight!" Helm did nothing more than anyone else aside from his weak goal that was more of a bad goal let in by quick than a good goal scored by helm.

I did watch the game. And I did see the part where Helm was our main asset on each of the Kings' power plays, eating up seconds with his puck possession, and when he seemed to be the only one fighting for the puck along the boards, and how he seemed to be the only player on the team that knew and display the meaning of "hustle" and "urgency." Sorry, but I didn't get all that off a score sheet.

This place is tame when we win and a madhouse when we lose. A lot of posters feed off of the failure of this team. People would rather complain about Howard than talk about the real problems this team has. I'm not saying that Howard should not be included in any criticism but to act like he is the only problem with this team and the only reason they are losing is what gets me ticked off.

wow, ide rather watch the penguins at this point at least they have balls. cant say that about this team. they dont deserve to win, and i hope they keep losing until i see some heart. not to mention babs gave them sun and mon off this week instead of skating them until they puked which is what they deserved. totally disgusted with they lack of heart, and wimpy ass play. its a disgrace to the winged wheel.

His rebound control is like a ping pong ball bouncing off a ping pong table. He shouldn't ever try to puck handle, he causes a turnover or makes bad decisions.

i agree about his rebound control, hence the nickname "the rebound"; however, this loss tonight wasn't howard's fault at all.

would everyone be freaking out this much if this loss came off a 5 game winning streak?

Have you taken a look at this team's defense lately or this team's offense lately? Go ahead and place all of the blame on the goaltender, you won't be the only one around here doing that. A goaltender cannot do it all on his own, no matter who is in net. It's easy to have s***ty stats with a team like this in front of you. The last game against LA is the perfect example of this. A 7-1 blow out turns into a 7-4 game in about 3 minutes. Jimmy's rebound control isn't the greatest and it has bitten the team in the butt but it's hardly deplorable for a $2.25 million goaltender. Howard has made plenty of critical saves. Howard's made more critical saves than this team has scored critical goals.

I came in here for 5 minutes to come read about the nut jobs and you friend have made my night....you sound like a fool...the guy gives up 2 goals..one a beautiful deflection and you want him shipped out of town...get used to him you basket case he's here for 2 years on the cheap.
