More headshots. Fabulous PR for the league. Especially with the Air Canada situation going on. It would be nice if Gary Bettman woke the $@#% up and decided to pay attention to stuff that's going on right now, instead of sitting around with his thumbs up his ass. I understand physicality is a part of hockey, and I don't think anyone wants the players to go around knocking one another into piles of eiderdown, but is there anything that can be done to curb the excessive contact to the head? Anything at all?

those elbow pads are weapons. i saw them issued to marines lol. seriously, they need to regulate the equipment soon. getting ridiculous. seems the only place a guy can really get f***ed up is the head now. everywhere else is virtually bulletproof unless some sort of ligament damage.

that wasn't excessive contact did you even watch it? it was if anything a missed check, it didn't look intentional at all

Yes, but Chara got nothing- I think that's what they're referring to in that statement.

Chara getting nothing was a joke- blindside to the head, broke his neck.

It was high as to where the contact was made. 2 minutes for elbowing, and if the ref has sand in his.. then 4 minutes for elbowing if there's blood or if the player needs a Flinstones band-aid -- even tho it looks like it smarted and more annoyed than hurt. A three game suspension isn't going to do anything other than make players afraid of hitting or finishing a check out of fear of losing money over a stupid ass suspension. I'm completely lost as to what message the NHL is trying to send.

So we're gonna suspend players based on the outcomes of their hits?

This

Casey: Chara made absolutely zero contact with Pacioretty's head on that play. The only reason the "dirty play" tag is being added onto that is that Patch got hurt on the play. Like I've said before, it's tragic what happened to Max Pacioretty, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and a speedy recovery. But I still say with 100% confidence Chara did nothing wrong on that play.

You forgot to end your sentence with, "in my eyes".

Chara's hit was much worse than Kubina's. Kubina's was an oblique approach where he only just caught him with the elbow, he didn't hit him with a full on check like Chara. Chara's was also into the boards, which is more dangerous for head shots like those, regardless of benches and stanchions.

Kubina should have gotten no more than 1, Chara at least 3.
