I missed the two previous games but in tonight's game Mo looked invisible. The same half-assed games I remember from the beginning of the season. So hopefully it was just tonight that it was even more apparent.

Again since I missed the two previous games I thought the Cleary-Z-Bert line moved in the right direction. Moving Mule off that line seemed to give it a bit of a spark with Cleary on it.

I just love the 4th line.... it will be hard to sit anyone on the 4th line once Eaves gets better. Maybe Mo gets put back into the scratch rotation.

Madonna hasn't done anything right since his first shift of the season, where he scored a goal.

The injury hurt his chances at developing chemistry with the team, but the whole signing has just been an utter failure.

I still feel that money would have been served better elsewhere, even if it meant just freeing up cap space and not spending it on anyone.

Ville Leino with a friggin hat trick tonight in Philly. ugh.

I'm a Flip fan, but where has he been? I feel like I haven't seen that guy since January.

Absolutely agree. Unless he suddenly turns it on in the postseason, signing him has been a waste of time and money.

Why is Ericsson near the point?

Mickey seemed to think it was because nobody else was out there to take the man. They both suggested Zetterberg needed to clear that puck. So for once, it might not have been Ericsson's fault.

Ohh my Goodness.. I just saw Datsyuk's goal. How does he slide by each of those players and manage to score? Inhumane or magician are the two perfect words to describe him and that play is an example of his finest! You seriously cannot go wrong buying a #13 jersey.

i know im gunna get blown up for this, but Zetterberg has been declining since 08. He hast made me say wow once this year, his hands are sub par, just totally un impressed by him. dont get me started on Franzen even though he was ok tonight.

And when you know what both of them are capable of, it's scary, frustrating and sad. :(

Oh come on, how can you hate on Hank? First of all, been on decline since 08?! 09 playoffs? He was incredible, last year's playoffs he wasn't too bad either. When Pavs went down for 20 games, Hank helped carry this team thru it and did a hell of a job in the process (if it wasnt for Hank we could be a in a scary spot right now). Also, he has close to 70 points already, sure he only has 18 goals but cut the guy some slack he is just in a little rut the past 20 or so games... it happens. Aside from not scoring many goals, Hank typically works his ass off shift in, and shift out and we are very lucky to have him on the Wings roster so show some respect where credit is due.

Declining since 08?

In 08, Zetterberg finished in a three-way tie for 6th in scoring with 92 points. He's currently in a two-way tie for seventh with 69. His scoring pace has considerably slowed down the past couple of weeks, but he is still at a point per game and above his career average.

If he's declining, then this summer tell Holland to not bother offering a contract to any player older than 31. Because clearly those old f***ers are screwing us over.

Zetterberg is not declining in an overall sense in my opinion.

But I do think he's been battling an injury of some sort the last few games. He's not had the jump in his step and doesn't seem to be taking the amount of shots he was earlier in the season(I haven't looked at the stats just going off what I'm seeing), it could just be a overall slump including the players he's played with don't seem to be exactly playing at the top of their game either.

Z's biggest strength is his ability to hold onto the puck with someone right on his back. Unfortunately that is a hard way to play the game and it's starting to creep up to him slowly but surely health wise. I don't think his hands are gone just that his back might be causing a lot more issues than we fans realize.

- what does this tell us? Babs has some line changes to make. I read he wants to have home lines and road lines, which I like the idea of so I think the road lines should be:

Hudler- Datsyuk- Homer

Filpulla- Zetterberg- Franzen

Cleary- Modano- Bertuzzi

Miller- Draper- Helm/Eaves/Abdelkator

Hudler plays so well with Pavs and seems to not be productive enough without him so why not keep him with Pavs. I think this is the best lines if babs doesnt wanna play Pavs and Hank together on the road. Overall, great weekend by the Wings, led by the Datsyukian Great and the Captain. I am going to the game Wednesday on my bday, so hopefully the magician and his Wings can keep the magic going

These lines would not work well IMO. Homer and Huds playing together is a defensive liability. They are both slow and not great defensive forwards. The second line is decent. Bert and Modano playing together just screams a 'the third line is lazy and sucks' thread. Abby, Helm, and Eaves are generally the better three of the five fourth liners. To have them rotate in seems counterproductive unless that are all slumping.

I was really surprised at the difference between this game and Fridays. The Oilers were still going all out, the Blues looked like they were just going through the motions. Kudos to the Oilers coach for getting his guys to put in the effort.

You could see this when the Wings had the power play and the Blues guys were just watching them compared to the Oilers who were constantly pressuring the Wings.

Both teams are out of the playoffs and missing key guys to injuries. I gotta believe that the Blues will have a new coach next year.

Z is currently 4th in the league in assists and 9th in points on a team that spreads the scoring out among the guys better than most any other team. If that's a decline, I will take it any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

As I said his skill and hands haven't left him but you can tell that his back is not 100% and may never be 100% again. If his back was at 100% I think he would be doing better than he is. Sure he would have his scoring droughts just like any other player will in the league but I think we would see more speed and a wee bit more dominance out of him.
