Words cannot accurately describe how pointless an excercise the EN is. If you're going to score, you'll do it 5-on-5.

Detroit tied a few games with the empty net.

It is hardly useless.

Thanks for the GDT, Hockeytown.

Pavel out....3-1 loss.

Prove me wrong, Wings.

yep, sorry guys... with pavs out im predicting a 3-1 loss. rinne always plays lights out against us and we'd prolly be lucky to get 1 past him tonight. preds have our number even with dats, so i don't see this one going well for us as nashville needs these 2 points to jump into the playoff picture... i hope im wrong!

Sad to have called this one.

Pavel isn't allowed to get hurt anymore.
The Vladinator He earned the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 1995-96, with a plus/minus difference of plus-60. The +60 has been the highest rating a player has finished with in the past 20 seasons, since Wayne Gretzky finished with a +70 in the 1986-87 NHL season

Got pushed around all game long, I know its only a loss in the reg season but they way the wings have handled playing physical teams just does not bode well for them in the playoffs. Only positive was really Howard, cant fault him.

Nashville really took some liberties with Detroit. The no-calls were ridiculous. Anyway, Detroit played well. No real complaints as far as the Wings go.

For whatever reason Nashville seems to be impossible for Detroit to beat. I'd hate to face them in the playoffs.

I recall 1. And how many games did the opponent score with an EN?

My point still stands, if you're good enough to get the tying goal, it can come through 5-on-5.

Refs really f***ed the Wings over tonight. I hope that crew gets fired or make them get hit like Detroit was getting tonight and see how it feels for them.

yes i would. and it wasn't arbitrary. i had a few facts to help. preds are low scoring team. we don't score against them. therefore i prediced a low scoring loss without datsyuk. wouldn't call that arbitrary.

Is there a kickstarter campaign for Jakub Kindl to never play another NHL game?

Detroit didn't lose because they were out-muscled.

They lost because they played gutless against a defense-first system. Nobody driving the net. Too many cute plays. Too many good chances against Howard. Modano being useless.

Aussie: The odds of winning through 5 on 5 with less than a minute to play are less likely if the team has an equal opportunity to puck possession. There is a reason teams in the NHL pull their goal.

Why do we need PP's then? Having the extra man is huge for control in the offensive zone. If the team can't control it with 6, they likely won't with 5.

There isn't one forward on this team he's outperformed this season.

I don't think I can remember a time where we were so dependant on one player and how that player changed the whole game...maybe Stevie Y. I still feel like Dats means a little more at this point.

I think we will go as far in the playoffs as he and Z can carry us.

Hahaha, I was gonna say it. Lils beard was glorious, him and Bertuzzi being on the same team for one season was not enough for me.

Yeah, it's always the refs. Wish there weren't any. But hey, then who could we blame our losses on?
