Guest Howard He Do It?!

The Wings lost by 1 to the best team in the NHL without their best player in Datsyuk and without Franzen and Bertuzzi. Am I missing something here? Some of you need to chill out.

I thought we played fairly well last night. We dominated both the first and third periods, but weren't very good in the second. But i felt we could have created more offense if Hudler wasn't on the 4th line for the first 2 periods. I don't know why Babs is throwing him there it's not like he isn't playing well, doesn't have the skill, or isn't hustling. He is doing all those things and IMO if he was on with Z and Cleary all night last night we score more than one goal and probably win the game. What do you guys think? Thanks for having me on the boards LGW.

I thought Abby and Mursak had particularly strong games. Helm's line also played well, and they've been the only consistent performers in the past month. the first two lines just don't have enough firepower with the injuries. The Modano line that was great the other night didn't play as well. Miller is also looking a bit slower to me for some reason.

All in all, if this is a bad night for the Wings, their bad nights are improving.

Wings played a very good game even without Datsyuk, Bert and Franzen. Luongo was just a brick wall all night.

The two goals they scored were not Howard's fault as much as i got on him in the Pens game. The first was a deflection and the 2nd was Draper's fault because he had no one within a mile of him and somehow didn't get the puck out.

The Canucks are a good team and the fact that it was this close with such significant players out im looking forward to the playoffs.

For me they both looked terrific. I was very disappointed we basically got no Mursak sightings in the last 12 or so minutes, not one shift, unless I am mistaken. Frustrating as he was playing well.

Also, Patrick Eaves was a GUN last night, made me proud with every shift. What a player.

I loved Eaves attitude after that clown hit him when he was down. He was pissed and it showed the rest of the game. Mursak is a beast... why is he not up permanently? He is fast, shoots the puck and hits people and is a lot of fun to watch.

I can't believe people are so upset about a 2-1 loss. Not to mention a 2-1 loss to the healthy, best team in the league while the Wings were depleted.

Canucks weren't healthy last night. Missing their top defenceman, a top 6 forward and one of the best penalty killers and face-off men in the league. As a matter of fact, the Canucks second best defenceman just returned to the line-up last night after 6-7 weeks out and was a little rusty. Canucks haven't played with a full line-up all year.

You're kidding right? They were missing two of their top six D-men, including their #1 in Edler. They were also missing their 2nd line RW, 3rd line C (one of the best in the league) and 4th line LW. Sure they may not be missing the offensive depth as the Wings with Datsyuk, Franzen and Bertuzzi but to say the Canucks were healthy is a joke.

I know Edler and Alberts have been out so long that people overlook that they're still out. TSN commentators mentioned that the Wings have yet to play a full lineup with the players they want. It's the same with the Canucks. Salo was out all year, lots of players missed time here and there as well. When Salo came back Edler was out and now Malhotra is done for the year so it won't happen at all.

Also went to the game last night and while I understand winning a game is nice and all, Vancouver fans acted like freaking fools. Not saying Wings fans are all saints by any means but it turned into a damn border war or something flaunting the Canadian flag in some of our faces, holding up Cups, and basically acting like they just won a playoff game. I do not expect them to walk out all quiet and withdrawn, but I guess shame on me for not understanding that alcohol and amateur night equals what we saw and heard from. Yes, Vancouver didn't have a full compliment but seeing who we didn't have, it would be like if they didn't have one of the Sedins and maybe Burrows or someone like that.

Now, before a "Nucks" fan comes in here and tries to start some flame war, understand that I have a ton of respect for your team as I feel like this could be their best chance at actually getting a Cup with the way Luongo looks and the way all of the lines stack up against us. If they do get one this year, congratulations, but truthfully I did lose a bit of respect for the fanbase a tad last night. We were more than in the game without Pav and if we play like that against them come May if that series happens, should be a long one. GO WINGS!

Yeah I was kind of disappointed with the lack of class I saw with a couple of fans I saw. That and the "LOU" chants need to ******* stop. Every save, whether it was a good one or a bad one, they cheered for it. Hell, I think we missed the net by a mile once and they chanted it.

Neither team really played their hand last night, more so the Wings sitting 3 guys that would've normally played. The one that suprised we was Daniel Sedin, it looked like a perfect time for the Canucks to give him a couple days off and spend time with his family and new baby. Maybe they are more concerned with him winning some reg season trophies then being healthy and rested. That being said he was probably the best player on the ice and the decider in the game

Agreed, I really don't think either team brought their best to the table. I could see Daniel taking the game off if he wasn't in the Art Ross race. I see so many people putting some much emphasis on last night's game. To me it really just looked like two teams in safe position going through the motions. Each team had some pushes.

This completely, I couldn't believe how many idiotic fan's Vancouver had there just making their fan base look like utter and I mean utter s***. Me and my girlfriend were just trying to get to the people mover and we saw them trying to practically start fights. I'm not sure if i'm alone here but i'd rather fight someone over the knowledge of their team and hockey as a sport than fight someone physically over a HOCKEY GAME.

It's really weird how you see far fewer posts like this when the home team wins.

Yeah i'm pretty sure I don't see Wing fans trying to start fights after games we've beaten Vancouver this season. I'm sure I haven't seen any American flags being flown all over the stadium. But hey, to each his own right? We should've screamed HOWWWWWW after every save we played at the Rogers Arena. Seriously guy.... were you even at the game last night?

Yeah, that's not a miraculous discovery. Either way, pretty classless fanbase. Was unaware it was that bad, and to be honest it wasn't until this year. Hmm, wonder if there is some correlation to any of it....

Seriously Hank?

Oh my God no! People shouted the name of a player at a sporting event? Call Homeland Security! And flags to support their nation and their team? The humanity!

Are you guys really this thin-skinned? Try going to a Canucks game when Montreal, Toronto or Calgary is in town. You'd be embarrassed you even mentioned this in the first place.

As for Canucks fans "practically starting fights", ("practically" - what does that even mean?) well I always believe unsupported and unconfirmed testimonials by anonymous people on the internet -- especially if the testimonial comes after a loss to a conference rival. That's as good as taking an oath in a court of law as far as I'm concerned.

This complaining about Canucks fans is only a deflection to make you feel better about the loss. The refereeing wasn't downright atrocious so I guess you've got to grab whatever figurative pacifier you can find. Get over it. There have been far more Canucks fans in arenas in the western states this year, but far fewer tears from the hometown crowd about them being there. Dry those tears guys. It was just one game. Odds are you'll have a chance at revenge in the playoffs.

If you look at my overall original post, I don't believe it at any point makes it seem like I am trying to feel better about the loss. It in turn is me assessing something I was unaware of being at the game, leaving the game, and even walking outside the arena. Seriously, it isn't a big deal to me seeing how it was mostly 19-25 year old kids talking so I am pretty sure their knowledge goes about as far as say Blackhawks "fans". Hockey is more of a religion in Canada, so I get the passion, but to flash flags in people's faces and attempt to get up in people's faces is something I found to be a joke. If we won, I would still come on here to say we won and Canucks fans act like idiots. The Luuuu thing is whatever. It's a cute gimmick.

Not thin skinned. Just honestly had no clue it was as bad as that with this team. I was already aware of the Laughs and the Habs, hell even the Flames hyper agressive, I am from Canada mentality they have about their team. No big deal.

There was some content in my last post that wasn't directed at you. I covered two or three of you in my response.

Sure people can be idiots and to suggest there are no idiot Canucks fans would be foolish. However, that's no different than any fan base and generalizing can also often be foolish. It comes off sounding like you're saying your s*** don't stink.

I will grant you though that there may be more people going overboard this season with the success of the Canucks to date. As a matter of fact, I'd bet good money on it. It may or may not be similar to what went on in Detroit in 1996 after over 40 years of futility. My point is again, that people (Detroiters, Vancouverites) are more similar than they are different. Both of our turds stink of digested hockey.

Well, I, for one, feel crappy about their crappy performance in another late season crappy game that doesn't really mean crap, with a bunch of crappy Nucks fans waving crappy Canada flags, pissing off all the crappyLGW fans that buy into this crap. Crappy-assed Wings could have won that piece of crap if they weren't so worried about starting the playoffs with a bunch more crappy injuries.

Crapcount - 11

:yowza:

Here's a suggestion about how to deal with obnoxious Canucks fans in the future....

Before you go to the game print up 5 or 6 flyers that document the Stanley Cup success of the Wings since 1996. Maybe add to it the Canucks "success" over the same time period -- or better yet, since 1970. Give one of those flyers to whomever annoys you.
