Very strange. I can remember this happening a LONG time ago though. Seems like it was the mid-80's. Two the divider that holds two panes of glass broke and it took them like 30 minutes to fix it. There was like 1:30 left over between the 1st and 2nd periods.

It's a pretty common occurrence but not from an individual team's standards. I've seen mainly glass repairs cause periods to be cut short and tacked onto the next one, plus other issues like power outages.

I've seen this happen before too. They will blow the horn when the rest of the second period has gone and then the teams will change sides and begin the third period.
