Doesn't look like Pav will play either

@cotsonika: Babcock said Datsyuk not ready to return tonight.

Also pav also said... "Still not sure about tonight. I still not skate like Helmer ... fast."

MLive has a funnier version of that quote:

Asked if he's quicker on the ice, he said, "Still not skate like Homer, fast."

I miss Pavs, but honestly at this point I'd rather him get the rest. As others have mentioned... assuming we still get the win!!!

Without a doubt. There is just the emptiness I feel when I go to games, like I am tonight, when I don't see 13 out there. It is ok tho. I sure have liked what I have seen from Flip and obviously Helmer lately. 1 more game out and he should be there for the tilt in Nashville.

Now's the time for the Wings to finish strong.. s*** load of games versus division opponents. I'll end up missing most of this game being at work but might catch the end of it. Go Wings!

Yeah me too, I was a bit disappointed when we didn't re-sign him but he wanted too much money or something like that right?

Not the case as far as I remember, he was actually quoted as saying he'd take less to stay here. Wings management decided it was Howard's turn which was the main reason for not re-signing Conks.

This was the case.

I like Conks too.

I want St. Louis to bring their A game. I know that sounds weird, but getting close to playoffs I want the Wings to get familiar with battling. Games in the playoffs aren't about one team blowing out the other, it's about grinding out close wins against another team that wants to win just as bad as you.

I predict the Wings to win, but I don't want crappy St. Louis play to take away from the victory.

It was also largely due to the fact that we had run out of options with Howard. We couldn't keep him GR anymore and didn't want to waste him on free agency or waivers. They pretty much had no choice but to go with Ozzie/Howie last year. At that point in time a lot of us here (me included) were bummed and skeptical about Howie as the backup, but proved a lot of us wrong by winning the starting job last year and having a great season.

Conks was a good backup, but I can't say I miss him terribly in the great scheme of things.

Ah, ok. Guess I must have heard wrong somewhere then but with the way JMac has been playing it isn't that big of a deal though.
