10 most skilled players

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia so there's not a whole lot of love for the Wings players up here. They aired a special segment of the Sportscentre top 10 - a roughly 10 minute bit about the top 10 most skilled players. I was happily surprised that they had Datsyuk at #10 because I figured it was going to be an Ovie/Crosby lovefest, but it's actually a top 10 of ALL TIME most skilled players and was thrilled that Datsyuk is getting serious love for once. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZjBvMncouU

good first post u must be a boss

Haha - thanks. I read the forums daily but I don't tend to post much. I figured that this might go unnoticed by most of you guys here because it's on a Canadian show and aside from Datsyuk's props it was a fun watch.

6 Kent Nilsson

5 Gilbert Perreault

4 Kovalev

3 Gretzky

2 Orr

That's some good company.

I didn't watch the video. Is that really the list of the players? I'm disappointed Gretzky isn't #1.

I hate to sound like a complete homer too but how is he not hgiher. I didn't grow up in their era but I never seen highlights of anyone of them taking the puck right off someones stick dangle through two defenders and put it top corner. He is one of the most underrated players in history.

To be fair, I think we should allow people to let it sink to show just how amazing Pash is/was. The credit will come as the years go by, I can promise you that. Also going to be homering on this one but Fedorov at one time was the most gifted player in the world, it was more so the effort that we all remember as being not so much there. When he did play all out like in the playoffs, no one could touch him.

theres this one player on the wings, I think he might be the most talented Wing ever not named Howe... I can't remember his name.. oh wait its Lidstrom. Its a joke he didnt make a list of the ten most talented players ever and people like Gilbert Perreault and Denis Savard over Lidstrom... and no Howe? Really?

I didn't watch the whole video but I assume this is top ten most skilled players with the puck not like overall skill which is why Lidstrom wouldn't be on this list.

But it is great to see Pavel on this list. He may not be the most Elite player points wise but he is probably one of the most complete players in NHL history.

I honestly believe Pasha has been shorted on this list. He could leave Bure, Savard, Kovalev, and others in the dust. As far as being underrated, I'd be more inclined to say he's probably underappreciated by every one but true Wings fans. We know what a treasure we have in him, and we appreciate him. I think he'll hit the 1000 point mark. With luck he'll hit 700 next season, and he's already up around #7 or 8 on the Top Ten Wings scoring list. Not too shabby, if you ask me.

Yeah, he just has to stay healthy. This looked like it could have been at least an 90+ point season until he got injured, maybe could have been his first 100 point season.

or Yzerman...dude finished 6th all time in points and was the best 2 way forward in the game for the last 10-12 years of his career hence the 3 cup rings and a conn smythe on 1 leg. his hilight reel for goals in his career and goals he set up is ridiculous. and they have karv-a-leg-off at #4. what the f***? top 10 all time....no way kovalev is anywhere close! other than that, the list is pretty good, but the kovalev s*** made me sour. and i'd put crosby ahead of kovalev already anyways. i hate the penguins in a cynical way, but crosby is highly skilled.

It does a Red Wings fan like me good to see Datsyuk get more recognition that Sidney Crosby for once. On a side note, here is a fun ready for any Crosby haters out there. http://www.dirtyballsonline.com/2011/03/im-saying-it-sidney-crosby-is-*****.html
