I've been alive for 23 years. I've been watching the Red Wings - seriously - for, oh, I don't know, say...16, 17 years. Tonight's game was probably the worst I've ever seen. But there was one bright spot: Mike Modano. He's got his legs back under him, for sure. It looked like he was moving very, very well. And his shot looked almost...dare I say, prime? I think it's safe to say that we've got our second sniper. Mule is Hank's. Mikey Mo is Pav's. No more wasting his skill or energy centering the third line. Put him on Pav's flank. Put Homer in front of the net. Wait for the magic.
...then, on to other things:
Mule-Hank-Bert is something we've all seen work, time and time again. No reason it shouldn't work again now. I'd like to swap Bert for Cleary...but Bert just really can't play on the bottom six. When it's clutch time, however, we'll get Clears out there.
That third line I'm not that crazy about - namely because I'm not liking what I'm seeing out of Hudler lately - especially in a bottom six role. Him and Flip might be able to get the chemistry going with Clears taking care of the dirty work though. If not...Eaves-Flip-Clears might make for a great third grind line with a bit of scoring potential.
Fourth line is what it is. Helm centering anyone we have makes it good enough to be our fourth line.
Defense. I'm scared after tonight. Let's just run back to the basics. Lids and Raffy. Kronner and Stuie. Ericsson and Salei. (please work).
