luvpucks 7 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 "....20th straight playoff appearance, the longest active streak in sports." "Now UConn is 13-0 in tournament play this year!!!!!!!!" I really hate basketball. The fact that ESPN only focuses on 1 major sport this time of the year (with baseball, which I prefer over hoops, starting to come on) hockey gets pushed aside. I know this is the way it's been for a long time but I am now watching a 5th different guy give his analysis on UConn beating Kentucky. Do we need all that? Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted April 3, 2011 ESPN sucks, find a new channel to watch. With Luck, Comcast may one day decide to create some competition for them. 1 Majsheppard reacted to this

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) No major US network is good at broadcasting hockey nor at giving hockey news or adequate attention to a dedicated or hardcore hockey fan (I'd only describe myself as a moderate fan). That includes ABC, NBC, and Versus as well as ESPN. Edited April 3, 2011 by Shoreline
ACallToArms 270 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 I take pride in not even knowing anything about UConn or Kentucky and what the big deal is about either team. Unfortunately, I think that makes me less of a guy or something. Yeah, I don't care about college basketball either. It seems odd that there are so many people who root for a team at a university that they never attended? If I went to UConn, I'd probably watch them in the tournament, but I didn't so I really couldn't care less. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 espn only talks about the same thing over and over and over again. Anytime Lebron farts in an elevator or TO opens his mouth, they'll spend all day analyzing every seemingly important detail about those incidents. It's a useless channel. MGreenberg 105 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 Yeah, I don't care about college basketball either. It seems odd that there are so many people who root for a team at a university that they never attended? If I went to UConn, I'd probably watch them in the tournament, but I didn't so I really couldn't care less. Why is this odd? If it didn't happen then most colleges probably wouldn't have half the number of fans that they do because just like pro sports team, you might have grown up watching that team. Like for me it is Michigan, I have been watching Wolverines football since I was probably five or six. But I really don't care for College Basketball either unless Michigan is involved so I stopped watching the Tournament after Duke knocked them out. And also sometimes I do hate Sportscenter myself seeing as Lupul laying on Howard while scoring was "top play" of theres.

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 What really sucks is TSN is really, really good. Not only in how they pay attention to hockey, but in how they actually have transparency in how they track down stories, interact with each other, and have people who know the games, instead of just big name former athletes and catch phrase jack-offs. If only they would give us the choice of which to have... it would be a no brainer.

In defense of ESPN, this was a final four game. A team making it to their league championship game is bigger news than the Wings clinching yet another playoff spot. At least save your anger for June when meaningless regular-season baseball gets twice the airtime of the SC finals.

Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 I like mostly all College sports over Pro Sports with the exception of Hockey I love all of hockey some more than others of course but you don't need 6 different sports broadcasters talking about one college team. I also hat that ESPN pushes aside Hockey over Baseball. I'm not a baseball fan at all, I used to be but not for about 12 years or so. This is the time of year that the sports channels really need to be talking about hockey with the playoffs just around the corner it get's very intersting and exciting. I know not everyone sees it that way but it really is. Go Wings!!
kylee 727 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 ESPN absolutely blows. I never watch sportscenter for that very reason. Just watch, if/when the NFL goes into a lockout they'll probably still carry NFL live and talk about it all the time. Idc that hockey isn't given any attention on ESPN would you really be able to stomach Melrose and Matthew Barnaby talk pucks? No thanks.

Mabuhay Red Wings 177 Report post Posted April 4, 2011 I don't quite understand the hate on that some sports get. I understand that people have different tastes. For instance, I can't really watch baseball without falling asleep but I don't hate baseball. I can see how some people absolutely love it. With some people, it's as if they just hear the word "baseball" or whatever sport they hate it's as if it sparks some sort of primal reaction. "You see that base-" "f*** BASEBALL!" "...Uh... that baseline data improvement for our April productivity projection... It's awesome!... ..." "Oh... Yeah... Awesome!"

Well a lot more people in this country like baseball more than they do hockey, why should ESPN show hockey when the majortiy of the country doesnt care about it? Although I do believe they could give hockey a little more attention, which isnt saying much considering now they only show highlights if there was a brawl or an illegal hit.
