Guest Howard He Do It?!

UMD is getting way more chances than UM.

Boring and slow start so far.

UM gave the old Wings effort in that OT period.

Hey, at least espn is actually showing a freaking hockey game.

I wonder how much play it will get on sports center.

You may be shocked, I bet there is highlights of it.

Of course there will be highlights but I doubt it gets very much play. The OT goal will probably make the top 10 though.

i saw it coming. michigan was dead tired and umd was applying tons of pressure. 1 minute later... goal :(

I don't think being tired had anything to do with it -- you're just 4 minutes into the overtime session. It was, however, totally attributed to stupidity (the icings), bad angles, horrendous giveaways, etc.. Michigan played stupid hockey in the overtime -- and for long stretches of this game -- and it eventually cost them.

What had me yelling the most in the third period was the lost faceoff on Michigan's power play chance late only to blow it by the horrible angle -- and late decision to actually hustle and skate -- by Merrill, resulting in the hog-tie penalty to put it four-on-four.

It's amazing that they flew in the face of an obvious strategy -- staying out of the box against the Bulldogs -- and still had a chance to win the game. It's mind-blowing that you'd give another team, what, 9 powerplays in a championship game? Wow.

Ugh.... What a terrible performance. And to think they could've almost still won it.

you could clearly see that the guys were out of gas. just kind of floating around like franzen shortly before the goal, not skating, but floating.

BUT you touched on the other point. if you give the other team NINE POWERPLAYS, be GLAD you were able to get it to overtime. It was an ugly game by michigan, period. Oh well, better luck next year. I noticed FSD showing more college hockey this year than i can recall in years past (or ive just been home more), so its easier to get into it for me. plus i love all things michigan, so that helps :hehe:

I hate whistles. Seriously THE dumbest rule in Hockey is the "intent" to the blow the whistle means the play is dead kind of like when Hossa played for the Wings and goal was waved off(I think that was the same situation) I am still kind of pissed about that. But I guess after the 1997 National Championship for the Wolverines I am not allowed to see them win any meaningful games anymore.

If that goal counts at the start of the game counted I wonder if the game would played out differently.

Cant win games if you spend more than half the game in your end. Not to mention the turnovers, and icings. It looked like to me UMD used the trap pretty well. Which made Michigan go for those long passes, which ended up being icings...that ultimately killed them. UMB out worked and hustled Michigan...they earned it.
