I am shocked Howard has only 7 votes. These were the best 4 games I have seen him play in a Wings jersey. He looked dominant out there and could have stolen any 4 of those games if he had too. He certainly kept us in games when we could have been down 2 goals in both game 1 and 4. If he plays like this for the next 3 series, he will be a major reason why we win the cup. Really amazing performances and gives me a helluva lot more confidence in him then I had starting the playoffs.
Datsyuk is a close second but the thing is, this guy does what he does every single game so I am a little spoiled when I watch him play. I guess Howard just stood out more to me. As it's been said, everyone played great this series. No true single player could be awarded series MVP.
Jimmy was good and looked confidant but I don't think any of his games this series were as good as four games from his rookie year (including a near 60 save effort against LA) when half the team was injured. I had rarely ever seen a Wing goalie play games like he was during that stretch.

There is so much pressure in the playoffs though and expectations were high for him. His rookie year when he started playing great, everyone was waiting for him to level off and he really had no pressure and could just go out there and play which he did very well. Those were no doubt great games but a Red Wing goalie is judged on his post season performances.

Actually it would be Howard. But go Filppula anyway.

This.
Ditto. Pavs, as always, was excellence personified, and Helm is like the shrimp and grits of hockey...you just don't get any more soul than that. Howard I was really worried about, but boy did he come through. He put Bryzgalov, Luongo, Quick, Thomas, you name 'em to shame when it counted...nothing fancy, just total steadiness. I'm so proud of all my boys, though! Great series!

Like up in the land of ice and snow,
They tell me that a Red Wing always flies.

Helm for the most stupidly overrated player in the game.

Datsyuk.
Helm for the most stupidly overrated player in the game.
really? i realize he's not alex ovechkin over here. sure, he's gotten a lot of praise around here (and elsewhere) of late, but the kid always plays with tons of heart and speed, even when he's not chipping in a lot of points, which isn't really his primary role on the team.

Letting the team down mate, I voted for Flip!I couldn't vote against Datsyuk even though my Flip slap happyness wanted me to vote for the underrated first round of Filppula
I think the OP got the optios dead on though, they were the best of a great group.

Obviously Pavs led the charge on offence but Draper-in-waiting Helm was all over the ice, hustling, hitting and causing the Coyotes to peek over their shoulder when he was on the ice.
On to Round 2!!! 12 W's to go!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you feel about squirrels?Datsyuk. Next Question.
HankthaTank - Squirrels, they hate to be thrown. / Why is the magical unicorn named Brian... Jedi - I just downloaded the "kids" book, "Go the F--k to Sleep" as narrated by Samuel L. Electrophile - I'm just glad the Wings were able to win despite the Curse of Brian. ACallToArms - I think Trey needs to put something about payroll tax and deferred income in his sig... Edicius - I'd rather [have] a soundbite of me saying "I like (man sausage)" rather than "I like Crosby".

He had a 1.00% save percentage and 0.00 GAA until the last few seconds of game 4!

Datsyuk, but honestly the whole team played well. Only Abbie, Draper and Stu held off the scoresheet? Impressive.
I was pretty sure Draper should have had an assist on the Eaves empty netter. Didn't Drapes win the faceoff and chip the puck to Eaves?
