Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?

Guest Howard He Do It?!

Their fans on their message board are uber-cocky. Basically declared themselves the Cup champions before the playoffs started.

Did it over here too.

Actually the Canucks have been my second favorite team for a while. I like watching the Sedins and their chemistry, and I usually root for Canadian teams because their fans always have the passion that most American fans only get when their team is winning. That being said, I'm glad the hawks beat them up a bit and gave them a reason to doubt themselves, just in case we end up facing each other in round 3 :)

The Canucks were run by a piece of %^(*@ named Brian Burke - who I can't stand and who talks out his ass like his opinion on hockey is the only one that matters. And their current GM was/is a Burke student. Pul-leeeze!!! The hatred for Burke and his team carried over even after he left for Anaheim, plus some of those same players are still there. Also, players there - namely Kesler, Torres - walk around with such swagger, yet they are hockeys San Jose to the north. They've won nothing. And Luongo is a sieve, with an attitude [this coming from me - a big supporter a mere couple of years ago], yet he is still praised as the best in the game.

Lastly, which is not entirely the teams fault, the absolute hype this team has been getting for the last few years is funny. They've never won a thing yet they are always talked about as the best team in the NHL - or close to it. San Jose, Pittsburgh, Washington ... I cannot and WILL NEVER support teams that get the exposure these guys do for winning NOTHING!!

The Red Wings win Cups, make the playoffs every year, have 3 or 4 of the top 15 players in the world, one of the best coaches in all of hockey, but yet they are ignored time and again, called old and slow, even right after winning a Cup, like we heard in 2008.

GO WINGS!!

I used to be indifferent toward the Canucks, but this year, they're really annoying me. The "Luuu" when the puck touches Luongo. The diving from the Sedin twins, the whining, the lack of respect for the other team (ie: "They had no business playing us in a 7th game" - Henrik Sedin)

I agree. Everything you named is what bothers me.. but still not enough to say I hate them, because they haven't really done much to hurt anyone. What got me over the edge was seeing their attitude after they won the series against Chicago. The Hawks obviously had business playing in a 7th game, otherwise the Canucks wouldn't have celebrated like they already won the Stanley Cup. And then to say comments like that after they were looking pretty desperate during the series?.. oy, you guys are professionals, lets have some class?

Also, with success comes the haters. The Wings and Wings fans have had targets on our backs for a while, because of what the team has been able to accomplish. Kind of goes with the territory, think of it as a compliment.

Normally that's true, but Vancouver has never won anything worthwhile yet their fans still act like arrogant dips***s. How does that work?

When the team captain has the audacity to publicly state that the team that just took them to seven games was so outclassed that they had NO BUSINESS BEING IN THIS SERIES then f*** your canucks and f*** your arrogant ******* of a captain.

I don't know. I think just about every teams fans are a bit full of themselves, Including us here. You kind of have to be. after all the teams are nothing with out us the fans to support them. Its just all part of being a fan! Are canucks fans worse than Cindy's fans? the hawks fans? Colorado's fans? Maple leafs? Redwings fans? the list goes on and on.

I have no problem with the Cancuks. I just really hate the Louuuuu chant every time there is a shot on goal (sometimes even when the shot misses the net!)

However I would like the Nucks even more if they went back to the old black and yellow skate jerseys they had in 94

I don't hate the Canucks. I would definitely say I dislike the Penguins, Blackhawks, Avalanche, Sharks, and Ducks... maybe some others as well if I thought about it. That said, I don't really like the Canucks either. To me right now they are just another San Jose... a team that has proven themselves to be a good regular season team, but nothing else. I am not enamoured with the Sedins and it annoyed me that Henrik Sedin won the Hart when I didn't feel like he deserved it. I do like Kesler, though....and, probably opposite the general thoughts here, I still like Samuelsson. I can't say that I have personally noticed an irregular amount of hatred towards Vancouver.

the jackasses with their stupid green bodysuits actually made a few people from work late today, i made it to work with 3 minutes to spare. They decided to put on their stupid sideshow for traffic at one end of a major commuter route into Richmond/Vancouver during the peak of morning rush hour. Everyone had to slow down to have a look.

[ (probably a very illogical feeling but likely a natural reaction)

I can't speak for everyone else but your reaction is a bit whiny. Do I hate the Canucks? Yes. In the same way I hate every team the Wings are playing against. Another Hockey (Sharks) fan and I were talking yesterday, We must have said the other persons team sucked several times when other people asked why. We both said Hockey is the only sport where you can talk like that to each other all game long then go have a beer together after the final buzzer. So seriously when someone says they hate your team whoever they are, don't cry. Join in then offer to buy the next round. This aint the giants and dogers and nobody's getting stabbed outside the arena after all.

I can't stand them, this act needs to end soon. There's an ECHL team where I live and now there's a stupid guy in a red bodysuit now <_<

I don't know if it's the team as much as the arrogant people who think they're the only ones who deserve to win. I have to admit, though, that I've seen a whole lot worse than Vancouver. Montreal fans throwing stuff on the ice the other night - now that was rude, dangerous, and disgusting. They don't exactly endear me to their team. And Pittsburgh is even more hated around here than you think you guys are. We won't even go there.

I think part of it is that we're getting tired of hearing that Vancouver is going to win walking away, and we don't stand a snowball's chance in Hell. And then getting that drummed into our psyches 24/7 so we'll eventually believe it. I don't.

Mike Gillis ... waaaaahh baby. They haven't gone past round 2 for the longest while. They haven't won anything and think that they are all that. Unless you consider the President's Trophy something to be proud of ... San Jose thought so.

For me it's not specfically Vancouver, I just don't want to see any Canadian Team win the Cup for a few more years. Since the Cup has been around mor Canadian Teams have won it which it is a Canadian Sport and the Stanley Cup did come from a Canadian I'm an American and I just want to see more USA Teams get the cup. If you want the truth I hate the Habs more than the Nucks.

I hate the Vancouver Canucks because they are not the Detroit Red Wings.

I have been trying to figure out why the fans boo Luongo after he makes a save. Apparently they are saying "Lu", eh?

:rotflmao:

I wonderred why they were calling Crawford "Luuuu" in game 7. :square:
