Not worth the effort. Clearly the league has it out for the wings.

don't fool yourself, it's going to get to your diving team and bite even worse.

these referring is not about wings or any other team, its about little ***** lawyer gary's `business` model...

I'll wander over to your board after Detroit wins game 2 and take a gander at what will look very similar to what's here tonight.

Best of 7 guys....wake up call for the Wings. Shake the rust off and answer. Off to Sunday we go.

Do so, I think you will be surprised to see the overwhelming majority of sharks fans taking the team to task for its mistakes. Sharks fans are surprisingly hockey savvy and tend to be very critical of their team (for good reason). If we lose it is either to a better team or more often the not because the sharks simply failed to bring their A game. Blaming the Ref's is a waste of time. No victims!

PS: tonight was B+/A- game for the Sharks. That was the best defensive play I have seen from the Sharks since the late season run. If they continue to play good team D like tonight this is going to be a tough series.

Perhaps the wings just need to create their own retribution, kind of like in the phoenix series where Holmstrom after being repeatedly cross checked in front of Bryz time and time again and not having anything called, drew the hooking penalty by holding the stick of that coyote that ultimately led to a PP goal for us.

This is pretty accurate. Unfortunately wings fans are known for being huge conspiracy theorist. While the calls are frustrating its a problem with the league as a whole. Refs pick on more than just the wings...even when it doesn't seem that way...

I bet I won't. Been a registered member since last year and this statement makes me laugh. See you in game 2 and good night.

PS: Tonight was a D- by the Wings and you squeaked out the OT win.

Agree with everything, Wings have to turn it up, like we know they can, in the offensive zone and throw pucks at the net, Niemi will fall apart.

GO WINGS!

my thoughts:

whens the last time wings had only 26 shots on goal? they had a rusty game. with what i saw defensively and how howard played in night, if they can get the forecheck and offense going theyll beat any team. i know they gave up 46 shots but just think that would be in half if the wings spent more time in the offensive zone. it was not the sharks who took over the game the wings stood back and let them have it. they never really established a good forecheck cept for the first line. barely any hitting.

look for a much better game on sunday

Need more shots on goal. Period. I could stop there, but for some reason I'm feeling unusually positive tonight, so I will say that if we had to lose the first game, it's a hell of a lot better than losing 4-3 like last year. Jimmy was great - even though the Sharks supposedly have such superior firepower compared to the Coyotes, we kept them down to 2 GA, just like the Coyotes (plus he found some time to show Pavelski a little glove to boot). I think that's pretty good news - if we can keep that part consistent, I KNOW we can improve our SOG, so that's kinda heartening. I'd feel a lot less confident if it were the other way around...it's too hard to play the "first team to 7 goals" game with San Jose.

I am not sure if it is really having too much time off. but tonight, san jose's offense is just too much for the wings to handle. the wings just can't compare to the sharks in terms of strength and speed the whole night. wings are lucky that it's only a 2-1 game. if howard is not on top of his game, it could have been a blowout.

For most of the game the reffing wasn't bad. But then the patented NHL Inconsistent Refereeing kicked in. You can't tell me the boarding call and Abdelkader's double minor for no blood were good calls? And what do you know, those were the crucial moments of the game.

Honestly, as pissed as I am, it does feel good to know that despite outshooting the Wings the Sharks still couldn't score on us 5 on 5 (I don't count the game winner as even strength, even though it was). Niemi looks shaky and like people have said, pepper him with shots and he collapses like a house of cards.

I still like the Wings chances in the series, but they're going to need to be up by 2 or 3 goals at least to overcome the last minute ref factor.

This is pretty accurate. Unfortunately wings fans are known for being huge conspiracy theorist. While the calls are frustrating its a problem with the league as a whole. Refs pick on more than just the wings...even when it doesn't seem that way...

In think most Wings fans would admit the bad reffing isn't just against the Wings, it's just against whicever team is winning, which happens to be the Wings most of the time. It's like clockwork and while reffing wasn't the only problem with this game it was the decisive factor, as it was last year against San Jose. My only hope is that because of last year, it's more obvious what's going on and they'll straighten out the reffing by Game 2 or 3.

Pissed that we lost. The refs helped it feel like last year all over again and Howard played great, but the team as a whole didn't play that great. Although, I do like the fact that we killed off all those penalties, which was a concern coming into the game. I was expecting a split in SJ, so let's hope it happens tomorrow. I don't know if we NEED lineup changes, but I would like to see Draper back in there. Since he joined Helm's line, he almost seems rejuvenated out there.

The game was just bad luck for Detroit. I agree about the effing reffing...too big of a ratio. I would like to see a more closer to even ratio but what can you do? By the way I am not complaining about the effing reffing, it is what it is.

Detroit is a better team than San Jose but we need to play a lot more in San Jose's offensive zone. We need to pick it up physically. Detroit also has to find a way to reduce the number of shots against because San Jose averaged the most shots per game during the regular season.

Go Wings!
