WCSF Game 3 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

No surprises really. Once the sharks tied it up I knew the game was over. This team doesn't have the "it" factor if you want to say so. They can't close out a game. All this means is we need a change in philosophy. I know we all love Babcock around here, but he hasn't produced anything other than one cup with with a pretty solid core. Call me crazy, but I think we need a lot of change, and that starts with the man behind the bench.

I'm going to bet that at the end of this series, if we end up tanking, Lids is gonna hang them up. No reason for him to come back if the team doesn't care.

I should have known we'd lose when Datsyuk walked in on Niemi in the first minute, and we missed two easy chances to score.

Typical Wings OT hockey.

Friday night could be Lidstrom's last game ever. :o

Yeah, the only reason why I think I want to watch the game Friday is for Lidstrom. A good guy like him always deserves better than this. Sadly, the good guy doesn't always win.

Clearing out Draper, Fil, and Homer would sure free up some useful cap space. Could we get an impact player for that much?

And can someone please remind Franzen that he has a pair. Shxt, he was this huge warrior first round and now he won't even go to the net. Season's over, good riddance.

i totally disagree. We gave SJ the line way too easily in the third, had relatively zero forecheck, and didn't generate many, if any, solid chances.

Well put. Went on prevent defense. Out-shot and out-chanced in the third. If that happens, the odds of giving up a goal increases. (I state the obvious).

Can we PLEASE stop the small Euro skilled player experiment? How many small Euro-skilled players does San Jose have? What is the series at right now? 'Nuff said!

oh btw, Hudler and Filppula are NOT two of the best forwards out there! As someone mentioned in last games thread! There is no defending hardly anyone on this team right now!

He produced that killer instinct people said the Wings lacked, led a huge comeback season in 2007, won the Cup in '08, went to Game 7 of the finals in '09 in a series that should have resulted in a win, led a battered team to the 2nd round last season in which the series was stolen by the refs, and only this year has run into any trouble getting this team to perform. I doubt Babcock is the problem. If they are complacent and not listening to him, replace the players. Babcock is one of the best coaches in the league. You bring in some fresh faces who won't be complacent. Simple as that.

To top it off along with Homer for next season as well.

This team will look damn near exactly the same come next season.

We could still win this series.

All we need is some of the following:

1) Niemi must contract a fatal and fast acting disease, tonight.

2) We take no penalities, ever again. Ever.

3) The Sharks show up late to the arena, forfeit the game, and we win by default.

4) Detroit replaces all it's players with robots.

5) We genetically engineer a Fedorov, Yzerman, and Shanahan, all in their prime.

6) We draft super heroes. I'm thinking Iron Man, Spider Man, and the girl from Kick Ass...for starters.

If those conditions are met, we could win.

Well I dunno if this will make anyone happier but I was reading on spectors hockey that Jagr has a list of 4 teams he wants to play for... Habs, Philly, Rangers and WINGS! I am sure some of you guys dont like Jagr but how SICKKK would that be?! Just trying to think positively given the circumstances.

Anyways I just thought of something. Last year both Philly and the Wings went down 0-3 in their 2nd round series and Philly came back to win theirs. Maybe this is the Wings year to come back from theirs? That would be nice

Flip, Hudler and Franzen are leaving a lot to be desired right now.

Unlike the other two, Franzen has a big contract and probably won't be moved.

Detroit needs to invent a cloning machine. Clone Datsyuk and Zetterberg five times each and clone Lidstrom five times as well then sign some amazing goalie.

Then our line up could be

Dats - Z - Dats

Z - Dats - Z

Dats - Dats - Dats

Z - Z - Z

Nick - Nick

Nick - Nick

Nick - Nick
