Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 Good game. Tampa really crashed Thomas in the 3rd, but the interference penalty on Malone was bull, in my opinion. Seidenberg ran over Thomas, It seemed, not Malone. He was simply going to the net. Nate Thompson had another solid game. Seguin really showed up tonight. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 Should the play have been stopped there? I thought a helmet less goal tender was an instant whistle. It's instant if his team has the puck. If the other team has an immediate scoring chance, play continues.

ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 It's instant if his team has the puck. If the other team has an immediate scoring chance, play continues. For an injury or the net being off its moorings, yes; a helmetless goaltender seems like a somewhat more pressing issue, ESPECIALLY if the other team has a chance to take a shot. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 Pretty sure it is meant to be instant, regardless. Not according to the rule book: When a goalkeeper has lost his helmet and/or face mask and his team has possession of the puck, the play shall be stopped immediately to allow the goalkeeper the opportunity to regain his helmet and/or face mask. When the opposing team has possession of the puck, play shall only be stopped if there is no immediate and impending scoring opportunity. This stoppage of play must be made by the Referee. When play is stopped because the goalkeeper has lost his helmet and/or face mask, the ensuing face-off shall take place at one of the defending team’s end zone face-off spots. For an injury or the net being off its moorings, yes; a helmetless goaltender seems like a somewhat more pressing issue, ESPECIALLY if the other team has a chance to take a shot. I get that, but I think it would be bulls*** if it were an automatic whistle. Goalies are hockey players too; it won't kill them to take a puck in the mouth (and they'd all gladly do it to make a save I'm sure).
MGreenberg 105 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 Man, I bet Boston is wondering why they scratched Seguin for the first two series now. 6 points in 2 playoff games with limited ice time? Kid is a beast.
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 Man, I bet Boston is wondering why they scratched Seguin for the first two series now. 6 points in 2 playoff games with limited ice time? Kid is a beast. He certainly is right now. Kind of hard to go back and look at how he played this year and call him a beast. Having a stellar playoff performer like this is super important, though that much is true.

Having a stellar playoff performer like this is super important, though that much is true. I was talking more about the now. Regular season means nothing. Who would you take? Player A - 115 Points Regular Season with 2 points in 10 playoff games Player B - 45 points with 9 points in 10 playoff games For me I would take B.

He is certainly looking like a great draft pick right now, for sure.

Tthat was just an example. I'm not saying he is going to be the Finals MVP or a Hall of Famer right now just saying in two games he put up as many or more points than 15 Wings players. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Call an "elbowing" penalty on a hit that clearly showed all shoulder. Thanks NHL for ruining hockey. No kidding. A player can skate backwards with their head down as they turn up ice, and know that the ref will call a stupid penalty when they get cranked.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 I gotta say.. It's so much nicer to watch this series than the Western Conference. The Sharks Nucks series has so much diving and whining to the refs it's frustrating to watch.
