Interesting trade idea - Alexander Semin

i think that adding an alexander semin might have a hossa-like impact on this team next season. it'd give us the ability to put an elite winger with both pav and hank (with mule of course being the other). if the rumors of the salary cap going up 5-6 mil are true, we could afford his 6.7m salary (and still have room to add another defenseman for around 3mil). and the best thing is that his contract would be up after next season...so if it doesn't work out, it's only for one year.

his numbers have gone down a bit this year, but i remember that he was still voted as the #4 most dangerous forward by NHL goalies at the all-star break. he's obviously not as good as hossa defensively, but he's big (6-2, 210), and he can skate...so he could probably adjust to the system a little bit.

washington's probably going to be looking to add some defensemen and grit. maybe ericsson and abdelkader (and some picks, probably) as a package would be enough?

Semin-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Franzen-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi

Hudler-Filppula-Cleary

Miller(?)-Helm-Eaves(?)

Mursak

Lidstrom-Rafaslski

Kronwall-Stuart

Smith-Bieksa(?)

Kindl

Howard

Larsson(?)

Playoff choker and the softest Euro in hockey today (no offense to Hudler).

No freaking thanks.

My lines for next year.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom

Cleary - Richards - Franzen

Eaves - Helm - Bertuzzi

Worrell - Mursak - Belak

(Nevermind. Forgot Worrell is LW and Belak was RW)

Filppula and Hudler are healthy scratches??

Brad Richards I'd obviously much, much rather have...but he's probably going to demand about a long 8 mil a season contract being the cream of this year's free agency crop.

Flip and Hudler need to be moved to free up cap space.

They're hardly irreplaceable pieces of our "CORE"

No change we can believe in. :P

Probably the most realistic though.

I am a Semin fan but I don't see it happening. Creative idea though Blue.

I personally want to see Ville Leino return to Detroit. I believe if he a UFA...S. Weber would be nice but doubt we give up the picks to land him and I gotta believe Nashville would match.

Um ... do you remember Hossa's impact during the playoffs when he donned a Red Wings uniform? ... No? Precisely.

I'd say that the fact he even fought makes him tougher than most of our euro's.

A) We don't need to be wasting big money on another forward.

B) He sucks in the playoffs, who needs that?

C) Hossa may have had trouble scoring, but he made up for it with his defensive play. I don't think Semin can spell defense, let alone play it.

What's this Hossa-like impact you speak of?

A one year deal which ends in bitter disaster, playoff choking, and traitorous team switching?

Oh, Please! Hossa owed Detroit nothing. He gambled on his future for what he thought was his best chance to win the cup, then got safe when he realized his impending wealth was at stake.

Gimme a break people. The Hossa hate is ridiculous.
