Media and Nick perhaps trying to give us a warning that Nick might actually retire.

I think it's more a warning to Kenny that he better make some good signings this offseason.

Please tell me one good reason that makes you think he's overpaid? As much as we love him, I think he's over payed. Time to go Nick, and built this franchise with the other Nick.

Because he isn't as good as he was in 02.
Which means he should be paid league minimum. Duh.

It's June 13th. How is he taking too long?

At one point he said he'd let Kenny and Co. know by the draft. So we should know our fate toward the end of next week.Didn't he say he'll decide by July 1st???

Ehrhoff? Bieksa? Markov?
Would we maybe push for Yandle, considering the situation in Phoenix and needing to fill a very very large void with both Lids and Raffi gone? I know i've been attacked regarding RFA situations in the past here, but do you really think we wouldn't try, in this kind of scenario?

Shoot he should have been getting less a few years now.........Because he isn't as good as he was in 02.

I think I'm with some of you here. I just have a bad feeling he will retire. I hope he goes 1 more year.

Come on Lids one more year, if only to save us cap space over trying to poach Weber or outbid a team and overpay a lessor player....

Kenny, listen up, IF Lids retires, then throw the wallet at Weber! Make him an offer he cannot refuse and at the very least, when Nashville matches they got to break their bank in doing so!
Won't happen because it's very likely that Nashville takes Weber to arbitration to prevent scenarios just like the above if he's not signed before the 1st. Of course, he'll likely be signed before the 1st anyhow.
Of course, I could get off my lame rear and do something.

When the Wings win the Cup next year he can brag to Suter how awesome it is to play in Detroit! Even if they don't, he'll still brag! (then you never know! Weber and Suter together again!) :DREAM:

Kenny won't pay 4 first round picks for Weber. In two years those could potentially be lottery picks. A Leafs fan once told me trading future 1sts can bite you in the ass.
If Lidstrom retires this summer I'll be deeply, deeply disappointed. Crushed, really. As a fan it would be very difficult to see a man like him go out with so much gas left in the tank. I could be adding to his legacy for the next couple of seasons.
Nick will have 40+ years to rest his weary bones once he retires. I hope he doesn't hang his skates up while he can still be a top calibre player (which based on his play this season and the playoffs it's obvious he still is).

Thanks TeeMan!
