Travis 576 Report post Posted May 13, 2011 Our team could have been swept out of the second round in a fashion that would make all the talking heads discuss our team's age and how their time is over. And we would've had to hear it all Summer long. We also could have never seen games 4, 5, or 6.

sputman 1,268 Report post Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) We could have the Islander's draft history: 1(5) = 1st round, 5th overall GP = Games played in the NHL S = Season(s) with Islanders PA = People drafted between that position and the following spot that are of note. I started at the most recent year that we drafted somebody currently on our roster (Abdelkader). I stopped listing Islander picks after the 5th round, just those that were available and are of note. The 1989 draft is interesting. The longest a player has played for the Islanders since the year he was drafted is around 5 1/2 seasons. That honor goes to Scott Lachance, drafted in 1991. Compare that to to our 53rd overall pick in 1989 - a Mr. Nicklas Lidstrom. I know a lot of luck goes into drafting, but there seems to be a trend of ineptitude here. 2005 1(15) - Ryan O'Marra GP - 24 PA - Martin Hanzal, Tukka Rask, T.J.
