I was pouring over the stats of many players and then I came to RFA Daniel Carcillo.

He is clearly on the down slide from the former years... and it looks like PHX got the best of their deal which was Upshall and a 2nd rounder.






My question... Do you think he will be able to turn his career back around or did he already make it past his prime?

Would he be any use to the Wings?

Nah, and I never understood the overall obsession people had for this guy. He wouldn't crack the Wings lineup.

I understood why people wanted him when he was in PHX, he was damn good there and showed promise of improving. He has been awful for a few years straight... I just wonder if he could turn it around because he could be a very cheap player.

He could crack the Wings roster easily, but I wouldnt want him honestly. Dives, takes bad penalties, and is a smaller guy for what he tries to do. Speaking of Carcillo, the guy he was traded for, Scottie Upshall is a free agent. If we want a spark plug player with upside, it's him, not Carcillo.

He's a good player. If Drew Miller can play for Detroit in the playoffs, Carcillo could. Skill wise of course, because I dont want Carcillo, he's too much of a lunatic.

I've watched Philly a lot last two years (because of Leino) and Carcillo is definitely NOT someone I'd want on the Wings. His level of play is inconsistent, takes way too many penalties and isn't even that good as an enforcer.

He'd definitely be a project though. He could end up like Ott or Ruutu - a good PKer, agitator and a player who is decent shift to shift - as he's only 26.

ive seen this guy play alot...played junior in my home town of sarnia...and because of that have always been a fan.. early in his career he showed all kinds of skill and put up not bad numbers while leading the league in fighting majors...the biggest problem is he turned into a pure inforcer type player...5 years ago i wouldve loved him on the wings but not so much anymore..maybe he could turn it around playing for a team like detroit if used properly but i cant see kenny taking that chance.....and on a side note i say go get upshall hed be great on this team

Rumors online suggest that his hands were tied by the coach when it came to fighting. I hope that explains his play for Philly, because it seemed like a significant regression from his play in Phoenix.

Two years ago (and a bit last season), I would have wanted Carcillo, but his play this season was seriously underwhelming. I'd take 07-08 Carcillo on the Wings any day, but I don't want 10-11 Carcillo.

If you want the skill of Drew Miller with the dumb penalties of Bertuzzi and Abdelkader combined, he'd be great for the Wings.

he plays the roll the flyers want i think. Even with the injury, he def. not on the downside of his career hes only 26, i just think he needs a change of scenery, and adjust his roll(which would occur with a team change most likely. A change of teams can really change a guys style of play, that being said ide like to see him on the wings for the right price, in a grinding roll.

he is only 26, far from being anywhere near his prime. he could probably play some decent hockey if he stayed focused.
