Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 TSN.Ca I wonder who will have the balls to criticize Shanahan over a suspension or fine or non-suspension

Travis 576 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 It'll be nice to have (what I can only hope) will be some consistency from the disciplinary committee. It will be even nicer to lack Colin Campbell.
hillbillywingsfan 792 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I had to look at the calendar to see if it was April 1st again. wow this is great news for the NHL for sure.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 And if Shanny sucks as badly as Campbell, I'll be the first to say it.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Holy s***! How did I not hear about this! This is awesome that Campbell is gone! Though honestly I'm a little surprised Shanny would take a role as disciplinarian. He seemed to be doing a great job with ideas to improve the game and its marketing. Now he has to spend his time trying to keep douchebags like Cooke in line.
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I think this is a huge step in the right direction. Shanny has always been straight forward and honest, whereas Campbell was mysterious, inconsistent, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. Should have stepped down after the whole email fiasco. Just hope Shanny brings back some consistency and clarification to the disciplinary process which would help to restore a level of trust with the fans. InKennyWeTrust 126 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) HOORAY! Seriously... HOORAY! Edited: Sources tell TSN Brendan Shanahan will likely take over, but there could be somewhat of an overhaul of how supplemental discipline is handled. So... HOORAY! 13dangledangle 947 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I cant believe it! Such great news for the game of hockey. This gives me hope that they will create a new, fantastic re-alignmen. One where ALL teams play each other the same number of games...fingers crossed! 1 lil Wing's fan reacted to this
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) I love it when a sport 'seemingly' listens to its fans. This really does have me feeling optimistic about the future of the NHL. Shanahan strikes me as honest and possessing common sense, even with the whole Janney thing. At least we can feel safe that Lidstrom will never be suspended again Edited June 1, 2011 by egroen 1 Vladifan reacted to this

evilmrt 636 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 WOW! First McCrimmon is gone, now Colin Campbell is gone? HAHA YES! Some of the things we didn't think would EVER change now have! Next season will be better just because of these two guys being gone. Shanny will do a great job, although I wonder if he will (at first) be harder on the Wings to prove he isn't biased. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Campbell could have just taken a "stress leave"; not having that much to do can affect some people. Next up for the League: overhaul the officials and the so-called "system".

The Wings don't really do much suspension-worthy, I doubt Shanny will have to be hard on them.

e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Rumors that Shanny might make it a committee. Which would be a smart move.
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I would be thrilled if Shanny were picked to take Campbell's place but I really hope he doesn't have to deal directly with the disciplinary stuff. That's got to be a difficult job no matter how you look at it. And I don't want to see him get dumped on for making decisions that will piss off at least half the fans involved. MulesWillFly93 199 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Schweet!! I agree with everybody - he's got the right personality for the job. He's open, seems fair, and has a good relationship with the players. I definitely like the committee idea - that probably should have been done a long time ago. Good luck, Shanny...I gotta say, that's a hard job. Like being the school principal - nobody really wants to see you.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I'll wait and see before I say if I like Shanny taking over or not. I'm not a fan of tough guys handing out suspensions. I think they should have rules in place before instead of all this grey area. Here's hoping Shanny makes some positives changes. Rumors that Shanny might make it a committee. Which would be a smart move. A step in the right direction
Nevermind 363 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 I think Shanny will do a great job. He seems level-headed and honest. It is kind of funny though that the NHL's head disciplinarian has over 2500 PIMS. A committee would still be a better idea than just a single person in charge though. I don't think Shanahan would want all the decision-making responsibility. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
