Are we talking about the same player? For his size, he's pretty damn quick... defense can be taught, look at Bertuzzi...

Meh, I never really thought of him as a fast skater. Good shooter, good offensive instincts, but not fast. Defense can be taught, but it doesn't necessarily sink in. See Robert Lang and Jiri Hudler. I'd rather have a player that fits in our system naturally rather than have a project player.

He's not a burner like Helm, but he's faster than Franzen and for their build and size, that's pretty good... also, his defense isn't bad, just rough around the edges and once again, look at the situations he's been in, he can't be blamed for that... it's not a mistake that he was a 1st rd pick and I don't think he'd be a project, one training camp on Z or Dats wing and we have a steal, I guarantee it...

I'm not sure why you got negged for an honest opinion that was in no way out in left field, or hostile... evened that up...

If we're adding secondary scoring through Wolski, I don't see where we have to swap him for Hudler - unless it's a trade situation.

Agreed, unless NY isn't going to buy him out and our only option is to trade Hudler for him, in which case, then I'd be ok with it and I'm not one of the ones that hates on Hudler or is willing to give up on him yet either and I think he still could have a great bounce back season...

Wojtek Wolski is NYR fans whipping boy. He's our Hudler/Ericsson. Just what we need... more whipping boys!!!

Wolski, then Drury. What's Sather up to?

Sacrificing a huge pile of money to the Brad Richards alter, praying feverishly (same prayer as always) that signing one all-star to a MEGE HUGE contract, will somehow transform his team into something that isn't totally pathetic?

I'm for it, if it can happen on the cheap. I think 70 points is a stretch, but given the right environment and some seasoning, I don't think 60+ potential is out of the question. He's quite a wizard in the SO as well. Imagine having to face both Datsyuk and this kid as an opposing goalie. I think some of those 1 pt games suddenly turn into 2pts for us.

He's their whipping boy, because NY fans are idiots... he hasn't even been there a full season and has bounced around on lines... I can't say this enough, the guys just needs consistency and leadership around him and he will flourish...

Just imagine this up front...

**DISCLAIMER - LINES ARE SUBJECTIVE, ONLY SET UP THIS WAY FOR FORMATTING PURPOSES, NOT LINE COMBOS**

Daniel Cleary / Pavel Datsyuk / Wojtek Wolski

Tomas Holmstrom / Henrik Zetterberg / Johan Franzen

Jiri Hudler / Valtteri Filppula / Todd Bertuzzi

Justin Abdelkader / Darren Helm / Patrick Eaves

Cory Emmerton / Jan Mursak

If that doesn't get you pumped at the thought of the different line combos, depth, size and options it would give Babs, I don't know what would...

I find it hard to get pumped with Hudler still on the team...re-sign Miller instead.

I'd be fine with us trading Hudler for Wolski straight up right now, then they can buy out Hudler at less if they want to, or roll with him... I personally think Hudler could still be a valuable player and DO NOT WANT TO turn this into yet ANOTHER Hudler thread, but I think Wolski would really find his niche here and could be huge for us... I'd even be willing for the Wing's to eat the additional 1m in salary for that trade off if needed...

To be honest, I'd rather roll with them both, but I'd take Wolski over Hudler right now and I think he could turn into a 70+ pt a year guy here, maybe more...

Wolski for Hudler....get it done!

He's their whipping boy, because NY fans are idiots... he hasn't even been there a full season and has bounced around on lines... I can't say this enough, the guys just needs consistency and leadership around him and he will flourish...

^^^^This for sure! I seem to remember another whipping boy that came here in a trade, Larry Murphy...and those fans are worse than the NY fans...Larry worked out just fine and so would Wolski...

Dude, I'm not against a Wolski for Hudler trade. As a matter of fact, I'm not opposed to most ideas that end with Hudler being someplace else. But comparing this scenario to Murph is a bit silly. Murph was already getting toward the tail end of a Hall of Fame career by the time he came here. Wolski is still unproven (I don't mean this negatively, just factually), Murph was proven and then some. The concern with him was whether or not he still had gas in the tank. He did. Not the same scenario.

Just comparing them as whipping boys that came here and weren't whipping boys...not career status...

Exactly, also Colorado during their worst years, Phoenix for less than a year and then NY for less than a year... if that's not some horrible situations for a player, I don't know what is... no consistency or stability, no leadership and no real management in any of them...

Colorado made the playoffs in all but one of those seasons, and they missed by only one point in '06-'07.

That said, I agree that he's a good option, provided that his asking price goes down.

Wolski will not be had for $1.1m. And if he's signed, you'd better believe he'll be playing over Mursak or Draper.

Well he will get his buyout money and lets face it he has warranted big dollar money with recent play. Most likely this will be a one year "lets see what you can do type deal." And he is playing above mursak. I have him on a line with Z and Mule

In this FA pool, he'll get well over $1.1m. You're dreaming.

they only made the playoffs 2 of the 4 years he was there, both as low seeds, and also they didn't do well in those playoff runs...

When he joined the Avs, the organization was in the start of their downfall... that's hardly a good situation to develop in...

He would flourish here, I'm convinced of it

It'd be kind of sweet to have another new country represented on the Wings team.

Wings already have USA, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and next year's new guy Slovenia. Why not add Poland too?

But in all seriousness, he's a good talent. Give him a shot if he's willing to play for a somewhat bargain contract.

At one point, he was referred to as "Goalski" by Av fans and was considered to be one of the pillars around which Colorado would build its team. Then Phoenix and Colorado think maybe a change of scenery would do some good for two very promising young talents that had plateau'd (the other being Mueller). Then Wolski starts getting lost in the shuffle.

If we can pay him only a small amount over what he is worth, then we may get a good deal on what he can be worth.

no thanks. don't need another LW. rather have zherdev and nobody here wants him. We need to think about getting guys on D and O that shoot right...

First off, he's played a good deal of RW, just because he's a left handed shot, doesn't make him a LW and also, handedness is FAR less important up front... I will agree with you on D
