other than the puck possession love he can get here, i can't imagine he wouldn't go to the pens. it seems like it would be a finger to mario and the city.

Um...Modano had 7 points in 20 games before his injury. He was contributing very little and probably would have continued producing very little, whether the injury happened or not. No matter how you look at it, it was a bad signing. Now we're gonna throw two million at another aging vet and pray the same situation doesn't happen again? Thats just unbelivable. We need to be adding faster, younger guys....not slower, older ones. Especially considering the pace of the game is faster than ever.

I just can't believe Holland is ready to and willing to make the same mistake twice in a row.

Do you want to be the one to tell lidstrom ge HAS to retire next season because we have all if our Money locked up on those guys and won't be able to give raises to kronwall and others. Yes we would all love all the best players in free agency but sorry richards 80-90 points for 7.5 million < jagr 40-50 points at 2 million... Which is nicer on the cap and allows us to fix our D situation while not handcuffing our self next season?

Yes Jagr is going to come in and put up 20 points.... Cause guys like eaves and miller are all better then Jagr haha. I really don't understand why you aren't our GM obviously you know a he'll of a lot more then the guy with 4 cup rings 20 straight playoff apperences and countless division championships....

Agreed. He is going to the Pens. It makes no sense for him to go anyplace else unless the Pens are not interested or they low ball him and he's really just after the money.

Since the Pens have already said that they are interested, they should sign him. If it's a money thing, we aren't interested.

I think people seem to forget how bad he looked on the PP. Whenever someone cleared the puck on the PP he would either go very slowly after it or look at the bench for a line change. It was so irritating to watch, he had no passion in his game at all.

If Homer can put up 20+ goals playing with Datsyuk im pretty sure Jagr can do about that and then some. I don't have a problem with Jagr coming to the Wings, especially if its less than 2 million, ship Hudler out and we even gain salary for a better player and still have 16 million to re-sign some players and UFA's. The way I see it, if Selanne at 41 could average a point per game im pretty sure Jagr could average 60-70 points on Pavs wing. Im sure if they asked Datsyuk if he had Jagr on his wing he would be pretty pumped up.

Just out of curiosity, who are these younger, faster guys who are capable of scoring? Are they available in this summer's UFA group? I don't think so. This is an extraordinarily weak summer for scorers. The team has a large amount of cap space, and Jagr can be had for a year without boxing anybody else out.

As for Richards---given your penchant for wanting instant gratification (i.e. at the trade deadline every year)--it wouldn't surprise me if you thought Holland should throw $8m at him.

Wow, only three seasons in the minus category and +275 overall... not too shabby. I just think it's sort of a moot point about his defensive game when you put him on a line with say, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Cleary, etc... We are a highly defensively responsible team up front and with new coaching coming in, I think we may only get stronger (back to our 2007-2008 days). Holmstrom isn't the best defensively, but we don't all jump on his back and tell him to get out of town,

jagrs a big body who could easily do holmstroms job on the pp next to pav and z... and i think we can all agree he's probably a better skater than holmer. Z - pav - jagr. sounds like a good pp to me.... if hes cheap enough, why not get him? holland knows what he's doing.. we won't pay too much for jagr and if we don't end up getting him i'm sure the money will be spent somewhere that will also help out the team.

But Homer is PP specialist and his job is to stand in front of opposite team's goalie. He's the best at it. Jagr is more a guy who keeps the puck and passes and shoots it.
